This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to design and implement advanced cybersecurity solutions supporting critical government technology environments.
You will play a key role in protecting federal systems, applications, and data through security engineering, compliance, and continuous monitoring.
The position focuses on building secure platforms aligned with NIST frameworks, Zero Trust principles, and modern DevSecOps practices.
You will collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to strengthen system resilience and manage authorization requirements.
This is a hands-on role for a cybersecurity professional who enjoys solving complex security challenges in mission-driven environments.
You will contribute directly to improving the security posture of high-impact digital capabilities while advancing your technical expertise.

Accountabilities:

    The Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security solutions for government information systems. This role manages security engineering activities, supports authorization efforts, and ensures systems continuously meet cybersecurity requirements and compliance standards.

    • Design, implement, and manage cybersecurity architectures, controls, and technologies for secure government systems.
    • Own and support Authority to Operate (ATO) activities, including security documentation, compliance tracking, and continuous monitoring.
    • Develop and maintain key security artifacts, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and related documentation.
    • Apply NIST SP 800 security controls and support Risk Management Framework (RMF) implementation.
    • Configure and maintain security solutions related to encryption, identity management, access control, and endpoint protection.
    • Support vulnerability assessments, penetration testing activities, security reviews, and remediation efforts.
    • Monitor security posture through security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and vulnerability management platforms.
    • Respond to security incidents, perform analysis, and coordinate corrective actions.
    • Provide cybersecurity guidance and technical recommendations to development and infrastructure teams.
    • Support implementation of Zero Trust security principles and secure cloud-based environments.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure cybersecurity objectives align with operational and mission requirements.
    • Requirements:

      The ideal candidate is a security engineering professional with experience supporting regulated government environments, strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, and the ability to independently manage complex security initiatives.

      • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance required.
      • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
      • Experience working as an ISSO or Security Engineer supporting DoD authorization processes.
      • Demonstrated experience with ATO packages, SSP development, POA&M management, and continuous monitoring activities.
      • Strong understanding of NIST SP 800 security controls and cybersecurity compliance frameworks.
      • Experience with security control inheritance from FedRAMP-authorized platforms.
      • Hands-on experience with cybersecurity tools, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and vulnerability management solutions.
      • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF), identity management, endpoint security, and secure architecture principles.
      • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CISM.
      • Strong problem-solving, documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
      • Ability to work effectively with engineering teams to integrate security into technology solutions.
      • Preferred qualifications include:

        • Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance.
        • Experience supporting DoD IL-5/IL-6 environments or similar high-security programs.
        • Experience implementing Zero Trust architectures in government environments.
        • Familiarity with platform security capabilities such as encryption, event monitoring, audit trails, and security health assessments.
