Our Product Engineering team is central to the success of Jobber - focused on creating software that delivers value to tens of thousands of users globally. 

The Acquisition Team at Jobber is part of our Growth group and focuses on expanding our user base by creating tools and features that attract new customers. This heavily front-end team enhances the user experience and streamlines acquisition processes through innovative development and data-driven iterations, aiming to improve conversion rates and grow Jobber's market presence.

The role:

Reporting to a Manager, Software Engineering, the Intermediate Software Engineer will collaborate with other Product Development members on a scrum team to build an industry-leading product that helps our customers and their small businesses be successful. We’re looking for people ready to solve problems faced by millions of entrepreneurs, using their experience to influence both our product and team, while developing their craft.

In this role, you will write secure and performant code that is easily testable, understandable, maintainable, and accounts for edge cases and errors. Under the mentorship of more senior and staff-level team members, you will solve problems with moderate uncertainty and communicate clearly in pull request reviews and other documentation.

As an Intermediate Software Engineer, you will:

• Understand how and why our customers work the way they do, so you can develop and improve features in Jobber's online and mobile apps.
• Engage in the full life-cycle of a feature, from ideation to delivery and adoption.
• Participate in code review and testing, driving engineering solutions that follow best practices and leverage reusable code.
• Work closely with senior engineers to refine requirements and scope technical solutions
• Share knowledge and learn from others through paired programming, team discussions, and technical documentation
• Break down and communicate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Deliver value early and often to customers. You'll be working in the full stack to accomplish this (both the frontend and backend)
• Utilize AI tools to enhance development practice. At Jobber we use AI tools to complement human skills and augment productivity, not to replace human creativity, critical thinking and decision-making.

To be successful, you should have: 

• At least 2 year of software engineering experience
• Proficiency in writing clean, maintainable, and testable code
• Experience with the entire software development lifecycle in the Agile/Scrum framework
• An inquisitive mindset, seeking out new information, ideas, and perspectives.
• The ability to take initiative and find the resources necessary to accomplish a project or solve problems.
• Experience using developer AI tools like Copilot or Cursor.

It would be really great (but not a deal-breaker) if you had:

• Experience using TypeScript and React in a production environment
• Familiarity with GraphQL API Layer and its optimization

Hiring Process:

• An interview with a Talent team member (45 mins)
• A Hiring Manager Interview (60 mins),
•  A take-home challenge with a follow-up Functional Interview (90 mins), 
• A Senior Leadership Interview (30 mins).

At Jobber, we believe that compensation should be transparent, fair, and supportive of your experience and growth. This role has a minimum annual salary of $106,600, a midpoint of $125,400, and a maximum salary of $144,200, designed to reflect the progression from learning the ropes to truly excelling. We design our compensation to reflect each new hire's skills, experience, and the complexity of the role, ensuring a fair and competitive salary. Our range is intentionally broad to support growth and long-term impact, with fully established hires typically starting around the midpoint. The higher end of the range is reserved for those who have demonstrated deep expertise and lasting contributions, while offers below the midpoint reflect strong potential with room to develop. This approach ensures that compensation aligns with both an individual's current capabilities and their opportunity for future growth. Base salary is just one part of a total compensation package that will include equity rewards, annual stipends for health and wellness, retirement savings matching, and an extended health package with fully paid premiums for body and mind.
