We are seeking a Principal-level Python Software Engineer to join the team in the design and development of scalable, data-intensive applications within the grid planning and power engineering domain. This role is ideal for a senior technologist who combines strong full-stack development expertise with a data engineering mindset and a passion for building highly scalable complex software systems. 

You will play a key role in shaping system architecture and data flows, implementing new data analysis methods and application features, optimizing performance, and deploying solutions that take advantage of modern cloud-native storage and compute technologies. 

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement full-stack software solutions (backend-focused with frontend integration as needed)

• Design and evolve backend services and APIs that expose complex data and computation in a scalable, secure manner.

• Design, implement, and maintain high‑performance Python pipelines for large‑scale data analysis and transformation.

• Design, implement, and optimize SQL/relational database schemas and queries (working with Snowflake and Postgres database technologies)

• Work closely with domain experts in power systems / power engineering to translate requirements into technical solutions

• Apply a data engineering mindset to system design, focusing on scalability, reliability, and observability

• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design decisions

• Mentor more junior team members and influence engineering culture through example and technical excellence

Required Qualifications

• Senior-principal-level experience as a software developer, with expertise using Python for production systems, particularly for data processing or analytics.

• Hands-on knowledge of SQL and relational databases

• Strong architectural and design thinking, ability to work independently and clearly communicate technical decisions 

• Experience developing applications for cloud environments

• Willingness and interest in working within the power engineering domain

• Understanding of basic Linux and networking concepts

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Python data processing libraries (e.g. Pandas, numpy)

• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or similar data platforms

• Experience with TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks

• Experience with messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, JMS, or similar)

• Background in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems

Depending on your experience, this role is expected to offer between gross 16,000,000 HUF and 26,400,000 HUF annually, plus eligibility for an individual bonus of up to 10% of annual salary. We review compensation regularly to stay competitive in the market.
