Transportation Design Engineer

In this role, you will work closely with Heidi Schwarz, PE, Project Manager, and collaborate with ISG internal resources for design and project execution, code review and evaluations, specification writing, visualization, and construction administration. You’ll assist with projects that align with WisDOT guidelines, ensuring compliance and quality while driving innovative solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and analyze data on roadway/transportation engineering projects
- Prepare studies with associated drawings, maps, reports, and supporting documentation
- Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates.
- Prepare construction drawings
- Prepare specifications
- Conduct site visits and report findings to supervisory engineers and/or project managers
- Assist project managers and more experienced engineers in ensuring project/task schedules and budgets are met
- Coordinate with team members to ensure timely and accurate document or drawing preparation Responsible for progressing knowledge through completion of various training initiatives: attending seminars; reviewing professional publications; and attending in-house training courses
- Occasional travel may be required
- Other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering
- 5+ years of transportation design experience
- Knowledgeable in Autodesk Civil3D software is preferred
- Must demonstrate the ability to present complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and public stakeholders
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Must be a self-starter with good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well within a team to meet project schedules and deadlines
