Job Description

Primary Function of Position

The Product Management MBA Intern will be liable for a major and minor project within the Ion product portfolio. The Ion™️ endoluminal system is Intuitive’ s newest robotic platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the peripheral lung, with an initial goal of improving the early diagnosis of lung cancer. Ion Product Management is accountable for developing, planning and executing the Ion business unit’s product/solutions portfolio. The team works cross-functionally across engineering/new product development, manufacturing/operations and the global commercial field teams to incorporate voice of the customer into the strategic portfolio and develop specific products/solutions within that portfolio. Specific examples of roles and responsibilities include technology and market assessments, product roadmap (lifecycle) and development of product requirements, global go-to-market plans and launches.

Essential Job Duties

• Gain a deep knowledge of products and their value propositions
• Examine and assess the dynamics of the particular market, its associated call point, and how an Intuitive product/service(s) is positioned within this context
• Catalog user needs, product feedback, and other primary market research to create long-term product roadmaps
• Quickly respond to ad hoc analytic or research requests common in this dynamic, fast-paced, data-driven environment
• Work cross-functionally to develop a strategy for the project including identifying key success criteria and metrics which are measurable and executable
• Spend time interfacing with customers and Intuitive sales representatives to gather first-hand knowledge of the project’s potential impact and how best to execute on its goals
• Complete and deliver strategy and action plan, including tools and key performance indicators

Required Education and Training

• Pursuing an MBA in marketing, strategy, healthcare, or operations
• Undergraduate background in life science, engineering, data science or business discipline highly preferred

University Hiring Program Eligibility Requirements:

• University Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program in the Fall.
• Internship Work Period: Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10-12 week period starting May or June. Specific start dates are shared during the recruiting process.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated interest in healthcare and medical devices highly preferred
• Proven computer skills: well-versed in MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud Products desired

It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including relevant skills and experience for this internship, degree-seeking academic program (PhD, Master’s, Bachelor’s, etc), year in school, and location. The hourly rate is prorated against the intern program salaries listed and total program compensation will be based on internship duration.
