As the VP of Engineering (India), you will be a key member of the executive leadership team, driving the strategic direction, execution, and growth of our engineering organization. You will play a critical role in building scalable, high-quality, and innovative AI products, ensuring alignment with company goals and delivering exceptional value to our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and scale a high-performing engineering organization, including Backend, Frontend, and QA teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and business stakeholders to align engineering initiatives with company objectives and deliver industry-leading conversational AI products.
- Oversee the technical roadmap, ensuring on-time delivery of scalable, high-quality, and robust solutions that meet business needs and customer expectations.
- Develop and drive the technical vision, architecture, and strategy to support long-term growth and scalability of our Enterprise SaaS platform.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineering leaders, empowering teams to solve complex problems and grow professionally.
- Build and optimize engineering processes, ensuring adherence to best practices, agile methodologies, and company engineering standards.
- Spearhead recruitment, hiring, and retention efforts to attract top engineering talent and grow a world-class technical team.
- Act as a bridge between engineering, product, and executive leadership to ensure technical decisions align with business priorities.
- Drive innovation by staying at the forefront of emerging technologies and industry trends, particularly in AI and enterprise software.
- Ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of our products while implementing data protection and compliance best practices.
- Own and manage engineering budgets, resource planning, and vendor relationships, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations.
Requirements:
- 15+ years of overall experience in software engineering, with at least 8+ years in a leadership role scaling technical teams and delivering complex products.
- Proven experience in leading the development and delivery of Enterprise SaaS products with a focus on scalability, performance, and security.
- Strong technical background with expertise in JavaScript, Node.js, and associated frameworks (Express.js, Koa.js, Hapi.js) as well as a hands-on understanding of NoSQL and Relational databases.
- Knowledge of modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps best practices.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing low-latency, high-availability, and high-performance applications.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a proactive and strategic approach to identifying technical and organizational improvements.
- Proven success in building, mentoring, and scaling large engineering teams in a high-growth startup environment.
- Experience in driving agile development processes, CI/CD practices, and engineering excellence across cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of real-time systems, including web sockets, long-polling, and server-sent events.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with C-level executives, product teams, and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a track record of influencing at all levels of the organization.
- Passion for innovation, particularly in AI and its transformative role in industries like banking and financial services.
- Experience in a high-growth startup scaling from 50-200+ employees.
- Previous experience working in AI or Conversational AI products is preferred.
