You are welcome to join the winning Intel team. The Data Center Hardware Engineering (DHE) group is at the forefront of shaping the future of data centers and AI computing. The vision and scope of DHE is to span all aspects of data center hardware engineering including end-to-end engineering for packages, boards, systems, nodes, racks, and clusters. We are seeking a qualified, motivated individual to join our company as a Mechanical Design Engineer Intern. As part of our design team, you are the primary owner of mechanical design projects, including improvement of existing designs. You collaborate with a team of fellow engineer subject matter experts (SMEs), reporting to departmental leadership and key stakeholders to determine project pathways. This is a specialized position within our organization, and our ideal candidate has prior 3D CAD mechanical design experience.

This role may include helping mechanical design engineers, lab technicians, thermal engineers, structural engineers, and/or managers on various program deliverables. Responsibilities may be quite diverse of a nonexempt technical nature. U.S. experience and education requirements will vary significantly depending on the unique needs of the job. The duration for this internship is 3 months however this is subject to change based on business needs.

Other responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Take primary ownership of multiple concurrent design projects, managing workflow and setting progress markers

  • Present project progress and challenges during all-hands meetings

  • Collaborate with leadership and key stakeholders to ensure designs help further business objectives

  • Evaluate all designs and prototypes to ensure desired functionality

  • Proficient-level skills with CAD software

  • Provide excellent presentation and communication skills

Qualifications:

Qualifications

Relevant experience can be obtained through schoolwork, classes and project work, internships, military training, and/or work experience. This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

  • Mechanical engineering experience or coursework in statics, dynamics or in strength of materials

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with design using CAD software (i.e. Creo, SolidWorks)

  • Relevant hands-on engineering experience or coursework in adjacent disciplines (i.e. thermodynamics, thermal fluid science, material science)
