Senior Staff Data Ops Engineer

Integral Ad Science (IAS) is a global technology and data company that builds verification, optimization, and analytics solutions for the advertising industry and we’re looking for A Senior Staff Data Ops Engineer to join our team. We will also consider qualified candidates at Staff Engineer level.

What you'll get to do:

● Support the administration and daily operations of our Databricks platform.

● Develop Infrastructure as Code(IaC) to automate databricks setup and environment deployments.

● Aid developers and DevOps teams with implementing automation scripts that follow the company standards.

● Collaboration with DevOps team members as well as all of engineering ensures that solutions exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability,

maintainability, appropriate reusability, and reliability upon deployment.

● Define and own the Operations roadmaps for large cross-cutting efforts that span the Data Platform.

● Present clear, thoughtful, and opinionated analysis to senior leaders, enabling them to make tough and thoughtful decisions with clear tradeoffs

● Have excellent judgment and operate with minimal oversight

● Assist with team growth and development, and set the culture bar for excellence and technical curiosity.

You should apply if you have most of this:

● 10+ years’ experience in software development in n-tier environments required

● 5+ years’ in data storage technologies (RDBMS, MYSQL, Postgres, S3, MPP, Big data) required, including significant expertise in application, data, and

infrastructure architecture disciplines

● 2+ years’ experience developing security standards required

● 4+ years’ experience with CI/CD preferred

● 2+ years’ experience with the following tools preferred: Kafka, Kubernetes, Terraform.

● Experience managing S3 access across a large user base

● Experience managing cluster and jobs configuration options

● Experience troubleshooting end user and platform-level issues

● Deep knowledge of modern data/compute infrastructure and frameworks, such as Docker, Kubernetes, Spark, Kafka, S3 Data Lake, Parquet, gRPC.

● Demonstrated experience of leading company-wide initiatives spanning multiple teams and organizations and leveraging deep domain expertise to

influence tech roadmap planning and execution

● Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate across multiple teams and stakeholders to drive business outcomes

● Demonstrated ability to balance execution and velocity with security, reliability, and efficiency

What puts you over the top:

● Experience optimizing usage for performance and cost.

● Strong coding skills in SQL, JVM (Java/Scala) and Python (PySpark) with experience optimizing code.

● Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

● Critical thinking skills to assess numbers, trends, and data to reach new conclusions based on findings.

● Experience, mentoring, and investing in the development engineers and peers

● Experience with Jenkins or similar CICD tools

● Experience with Nexus and build tools for python and JVM

● Strong architectural foundations covering observability and disaster recovery
