Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Integral Ad Science (IAS) is a global technology and data company that builds verification, optimization, and analytics solutions for the advertising industry and we’re looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Cloud Reliability Engineering team. This is a daytime role is based in our new Sydney office, working on a hybrid basis. If you are excited by technology that has the power to handle hundreds of thousands of transactions per second; collect tens of billions of events each day; and evaluate thousands of data-points in real-time all while responding in just a few milliseconds, then IAS is the place for you!

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer you will ensure that our platform is stable and responsive 24*7 and you will enhance current software solutions to be more stable.  Collecting data and generating actionable insights is what IAS does.  The CRE team ensures that our data is provided in a timely and accurate fashion, meeting and beating customer’s expectations.  On the CRE team, you’ll have the opportunity to address the complex challenges of scale which few companies have, while using your expertise in coding, algorithms, complexity analysis and large-scale system design.

What you’ll get to do:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of our systems.
• Implement and maintain automation tools for monitoring, deployment, and scaling of applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, ensuring minimal impact on the production environment.
• Participate in the design and architecture of systems to enhance scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Work closely with software engineers to promote and implement best practices in terms of reliability and efficiency.
• Develop and maintain scripts and tools, with a strong emphasis on expertise in Python.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents promptly.
• Continuously analyze system performance and provide recommendations for improvement.

You should apply if you have most of this:

• 5+ years of experience as an SRE or closely related role in Systems Engineering or Production Support
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related disciplines
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems
• Ability to program using languages like Python , Bash etc.
• Good working knowledge of Kubernetes
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, Puppet
• Experience with tools such as Grafana and Prometheus
• AWS or other cloud experience
• A proactive approach to identify the problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas of improvement
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Self-motivated and positive mindset to examine any incidents

What puts you over the top:

• Understanding of Big data (Hadoop / Hive / Spark), Airflow, Data Pipelines
• Advanced programming ability
• Familiarity with databases, both SQL and NoSQL.
• Previous exposure to microservices architecture.
• Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or Google Professional DevOps Engineer.
