Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a team reporting into one of our Software Engineering Managers. Within this team, you will operate in an agile development team and participate in the design, development, testing, and debugging of applications. This product is used by customers to implement Corporate Performance Management (CPM) and Tax business solutions. You will have a passion for application development and code quality, as well being committed to continuous improvement and having excellent communication skills. You will be a results-oriented person with a delivery focus and demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Learn the technology tools and frameworks used by the Engineering team at insightsoftware
• Acquire functional knowledge of the Longview software product we build
• Design and configure business solutions in a framework using a proprietary scripting language created by insightsoftware
• Build views and reports and develop tax and reporting calculations our proprietary scripting language
• Work with a technical lead and product manager to clearly define product requirements and to design new applications
• Conduct efficient code reviews and respect the team's coding standards
• Participate in hands-on development of user stories and technical improvements
• Write unit test, debug defects, and participate in regression test efforts
• Work successfully with the Longview engineers to build and deliver quality software on time and on budget
• Collaborate well with a remote first Agile team, participating in and contributing in Scrum meetings, work effort estimates, and pair programming initiatives

Qualifications

Qualifications

Skills Required:

• Academic degree in a STEM discipline. Familiar with algorithms and computer science concepts
• 5 to 8 years of commercial software development experience
• Proficient in a scripting language (Bash, Shell, PowerShell, or similar)
• Experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, or similar)
• Understanding of basic accounting and finance principles is desirable, but not required
• Strong analytical skills and understanding of software development principles like data modelling and data structures
• Experience working with a variety of technology and the ability to multi-task between different projects and workflow stages 

• Experience in SCRUM or other agile development processes
• Experience with modern application development workflows and version control systems like git

Experience in the following is desirable:

• PowerShell
• Familiarity with CPM or Tax software
• Comfortable with both Windows and Linux environments
