Data Exchange and Interoperability at Innovaccer

The Data Exchange and Interoperability team is accountable for high-level planning and implementation of data acquisition from the customer, vendor or any third party data source. This team remains as the vital clog for bringing customer’s data to Innovaccer and thus allowing the subsequent data engineering teams to work towards powering various Innovaccer tools and dashboards for the customer using the supplied data. 

About the Role

Innovaccer is seeking a Associate / Sr. Associate / Senior Specialist – Data Exchange and Interoperability to lead the onboarding and integration of healthcare data sources into the Innovaccer platform. This role is responsible for owning the end-to-end data acquisition lifecycle, including integration solutioning, vendor coordination, connectivity setup, and delivery execution.

This is a hybrid role combining integration delivery ownership and technical solutioning. The individual will work directly with healthcare provider organizations, EMR vendors, and internal engineering teams to enable reliable and scalable data exchange using modern interoperability standards and integration methods

This role is a critical part of Innovaccer’s data acquisition function and serves as a foundational step toward future technical and delivery leadership within the organization.

A Day in the Life

Integration Solutioning and Architecture Ownership

  1. Evaluate customer data environments and identify appropriate integration approaches (FHIR APIs, REST APIs, database connections, SFTP/file-based interfaces, Snowflake sharing, HL7 feeds, CCDA exports, etc.)
  2. Independently determine optimal integration methods based on customer systems, technical feasibility, and platform requirements
  3. Review vendor technical documentation and translate it into actionable integration plans
  4. Identify risks, constraints, and dependencies in integration architecture early in the onboarding lifecycle

Data Acquisition and Integration Delivery Ownership

  1. Own end-to-end onboarding of customer data sources into the Innovaccer platform
  2. Drive connectivity setup across EMRs, Practice Management Systems, Labs, HIEs, and other healthcare data systems
  3. Ensure timely execution of integration milestones and data onboarding timelines
  4. Track integration progress, escalate risks, and drive resolution with stakeholders

Vendor and Customer Technical Engagement

  1. Directly engage with healthcare organizations, EMR vendors, and IT teams to enable data integrations
  2. Lead technical discussions related to connectivity setup, data extraction, authentication, and integration configuration
  3. Coordinate with vendor technical teams to enable API access, database connectivity, file exports, or other integration mechanisms
  4. Troubleshoot integration issues related to connectivity, authentication, data completeness, or format discrepancies

Cross-Functional Coordination

  1. Collaborate with Engineering, Infrastructure, Product, QA, and Customer Success teams to execute integration projects
  2. Translate business and data requirements into actionable integration execution plans
  3. Coordinate internal implementation workflows to ensure smooth onboarding and data flow enablement
  4. Maintain structured documentation of integration architecture, workflows, and onboarding status

Data Validation and Integration Quality Assurance

  1. Verify data connectivity, completeness, and integrity during onboarding
  2. Identify and flag data gaps, anomalies, or inconsistencies

Work with vendors and internal teams to resolve integration and data quality issues

What You Need

  • 4–6 years of experience in healthcare data integration, interoperability, or healthcare technical implementation roles
  • Experience onboarding healthcare data sources such as EMRs, Practice Management Systems, Labs, HIEs, or payer systems
  • Experience owning integration delivery or technical onboarding for external clients or healthcare organizations
  • Experience working directly with external vendor technical teams and customer IT team
  • Strong understanding of healthcare interoperability standards and integration methods, including:
      • FHIR APIs
      • REST APIs
      • HL7 v2 messaging
      • CCDA documents
      • Database integrations (ODBC/JDBC, SQL-based extraction)
      • File-based integrations (SFTP, flat files, CSV, XML, JSON)
      • Healthcare integration architectures and connectivity workflows
  • Understanding of authentication and connectivity mechanisms such as:
      • OAuth
      • API keys
      • VPN-based access
  • Secure file transfer protocols
