The Opportunity

We're looking for a Java Engineer to help design, build, and support advanced business applications within ING's Wholesale Lending domain.

This role combines hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, offering the opportunity to influence architecture, drive engineering improvements, and ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of mission-critical systems.

What You'll Do

• Own and support critical applications across the Wholesale Lending landscape.
• Design, develop, and enhance scalable Java-based solutions.
• Drive technical improvements, engineering best practices, and team-wide initiatives.
• Balance feature delivery with platform stability, security, and risk management.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to shape technical solutions.
• Build and maintain secure, resilient, and high-performing applications.
• Contribute hands-on through coding, testing, and continuous improvement activities.

What You'll Bring

Technical Expertise

• Strong knowledge of Java (Java 8 or higher).
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot and the Spring Framework.
• Solid understanding of Microservices Architecture and Event-Driven Architecture.
• Strong experience working with Relational Databases (RDBMS).
• Knowledge of software design principles, patterns, and modern engineering practices.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and automated delivery pipelines.
• Strong understanding of secure application design and coding practices.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Ability to lead technical discussions and drive engineering decisions.
• Experience collaborating with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders.
• Proven ability to introduce and champion technical improvements.
• Strong focus on system stability, security, and risk management.
• Passion for delivering high-quality solutions and fostering engineering excellence.
