Position Summary

The Senior Linux Engineer will play a pivotal role within a critical data center migration program, driving the infrastructure readiness and application migration steps. The Linux operating system platform serves as the foundation for critical business functions, including semi-real-time transaction authorization processes for card acquiring and issuing. [4]

The successful candidate will ensure that the underlying Linux OS layer and associated application servers (JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, etc.) are architected, configured, and optimized for maximum availability, performance, and security. This role requires a senior engineer who combines deep infrastructure expertise with migration experience and strong cross-border collaboration skills. [5, 6]

Key Responsibilities

Migration & Infrastructure Delivery

  • Drive DC Migration: Partner with Project Managers (PMs) to execute infrastructure building, testing, and migration strategies to the new environments.

  • Build Coordination: Prepare, place, and manage infrastructure build requests, configurations, and access permissions while actively unblocking technical obstacles.

  • High Availability & Security: Design and develop the server infrastructure to guarantee the highest standards of availability, quality, performance, and security for users and customers. [7]

  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive, live technical documentation within Confluence.

  • Stakeholder Alignment: Socialize technical scope, migration challenges, and solutions with international Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and corporate technical groups.

Linux Systems Administration & Operations

  • OS Administration: Configure, maintain, and secure enterprise Linux server environments (specifically RedHat and Oracle Linux).

  • Middleware Management: Administer and optimize application and web servers including JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, OHS, WildFly, and Spring Boot. [8]

  • Automation: Leverage Ansible and Rundeck to automate deployment, configuration, and migration processes.

  • Performance Analytics & Monitoring: Conduct deep-dive performance analysis, monitoring, diagnostics, and 3rd level incident/problem resolution.

  • BAU Support: Collaborate closely with the FTS Application & Middleware Team during the Business-As-Usual transitional phases.

Qualifications & Technical Requirements

Hard Skills

  • Linux Enterprise: Advanced system administration experience with RedHat (RHEL) and Oracle Linux.

  • Web & App Servers: Practical experience in configuring and maintaining JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, OHS, WildFly, or Spring Boot.

  • Automation Tools: Strong knowledge and practical usage of Ansible and Rundeck.

  • Scripting: Proficient scripting skills in Bash or Python for task automation.

  • Security & Networking: solid understanding of cryptography issues (PKI, PGP) and enterprise IP network management.

  • Certifications: Active RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) certification is a strong plus. [9, 10]

Experience

  • Migration Track Record: Hands-on experience navigating the complexities and challenges of large-scale application migrations (Data Center to Data Center).

  • Transactional Environments: Understanding of scalability, monitoring, and resilience for mass transaction processing or semi-real-time online transaction systems.

  • Corporate Scale: Experience working in a global, distributed infrastructure setup across multiple time zones.

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Communication: Excellent written and spoken Polish and English to bridge communications between local and international teams.

  • Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical thinking and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex environment issues quickly under project pressure.

  • Ownership & Commitment: High accountability for product quality, with a track record of meeting commitments.

  • Collaboration: Strong knowledge-sharing mindset, ability to compromise, and build robust relationships within a global matrix organization. [11]
