C++ Software Engineer for AI

We're looking for a mid-level engineer to join the team building our S3-compatible object storage, purpose-built for the throughput and latency demands of AI — including GPUDirect Storage integration for direct data movement between storage and GPU memory.

Responsibilities

• Native filesystem-level code interfacing with our storage backend's C API, bridged into our Go services via CGO
• Low-level file and metadata operations: file handles, attributes, locking, and concurrent access patterns typical of a production filesystem
• Correctness-critical logic around partial failures and rollback — ensuring operations that fail partway through don't leave the system in an inconsistent state
• Concurrency and locking correctness across operations that touch shared filesystem state
• Debugging and root-causing issues using system traces and logs, tracing behavior across distributed components

Requirements

• Strong C++ fundamentals: memory management, pointers, structs, and comfort reasoning about low-level system behavior
• Experience with systems-level programming — anything involving file I/O, networking, or OS-level APIs is relevant, even outside storage specifically
• Some Go experience is a plus (our services are Go with CGO bindings into the C layer), but strong C++ instincts matter more than prior Go exposure
• Comfort with concurrency: locks, race conditions, deadlock avoidance
• Careful, methodical debugging habits — this system prioritizes correctness over speed of shipping, and bugs here can mean data loss
• Ability to read and extend existing native code rather than always designing greenfield systems
