Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Payments Solutions Architect to join our team in Johannesburg, South Africa. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing innovative payment solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients in the financial services industry.
- Design and develop scalable, secure, and efficient payment architectures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Evaluate and integrate various payment gateways, processors, and technologies
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including PCI DSS
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams
- Create detailed technical specifications and architecture diagrams
- Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to improve overall code quality
- Stay up-to-date with emerging payment technologies and industry trends
- Participate in client meetings to discuss technical solutions and address concerns
- Troubleshoot complex issues and provide expert-level support when needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in payments technology or fintech
- Proven track record of designing and implementing payment solutions
- Strong knowledge of payment systems, gateways, and processors
- Expertise in software architecture, API design, and integration
- Proficiency in cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Solid programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, or C++
- Experience with database management systems and data modeling
- In-depth understanding of security protocols and compliance standards (e.g., PCI DSS)
- Familiarity with project management methodologies
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CISSP) are a plus
- Knowledge of emerging payment technologies (e.g., blockchain, cryptocurrencies) is desirable
- Willingness to travel occasionally within South Africa and internationally

- This is a hybrid and flexible position.
- It is a contract role that can be extended based on performance.
