SQL Server Database Administrator

Location: Remote, PA

Overview

Inabia is seeking a Database Administrator (classification: DBA4 A4 SC3) to perform advanced technical work across all phases of database administration, development support, and production operations. This is a contracted remote position with core hours of 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM ET, and a strong preference for candidates located in the Harrisburg, PA area. The role spans SQL Server administration, Azure SQL deployment, data warehousing, performance optimization, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support production SQL Server database environments and day-to-day database operations
• Support the full application development lifecycle, including planning, design, development, implementation, data migration, QA, data cleanup, and data administration
• Manage database security, availability, monitoring, and performance optimization
• Perform SQL software installation, configuration, upgrades, and Service Pack installations
• Conduct SQL Server health checks and deliver performance recommendations
• Execute SQL database migrations and upgrades from legacy servers and older SQL versions
• Perform data migration activities including extraction, cleansing, transformation, loading, and validation
• Deploy, configure, secure, back up, and maintain Azure SQL databases
• Integrate Azure SQL resources with other Azure services
• Develop and deploy database schemas across test and production environments
• Perform logical and physical database modeling
• Develop and maintain database structures, tables, relationships, and normalization standards
• Support Data Warehouse, Data Mart, and Power BI environments
• Coordinate database backup and restore activities
• Collaborate with developers, business stakeholders, vendors, and service providers
• Engage in ongoing process improvement initiatives and proactively manage database-related issues
• Estimate work effort, schedule assigned activities, and track issues, risks, and action items
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues
• Assist with software releases and provide regular status updates to stakeholders
• Adhere to database standards and complete all assigned tasks within required timelines
• Work effectively both independently and within a team environment

Key Qualifications

• 7+ years of SQL Server Database Administration experience
• 4+ years of production server database administration experience
• 3+ years of Data Analytics experience
• 1+ year of Azure Database Administration experience
• 1+ year of Data Warehouse experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Professional customer service orientation
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Available to work core hours of 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM ET

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Business Systems Analysis and Design
• Microsoft SQL High Availability / Always On experience
• Power BI Administration experience (highly desired)
