Mechatronics Test Engineer, Hardware Verification and Validation

Location: North Reading, MA

Inabia is seeking a Mechatronics Test Engineer to lead the creation and execution of test programs, plans, and methods for subsystem and complete system verification and validation tests. This role supports new technology and product development programs in robotics and automation, encompassing test bench design, instrumentation selection, data processing, and results reporting. The successful candidate will transform raw measurement data into clear engineering insights that directly drive design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate test plans and equipment requirements based on program development stage
• Design, commission, and operate test benches for robotic systems including actuators, batteries, sensors, and cameras
• Perform complete system verification and validation testing to ensure successful development of new robotics and automation technologies and products
• Process and analyze test data to determine performance metrics against defined specifications
• Create detailed test reports that compare results against specifications and feed findings back into the design cycle
• Support multiple new technology and product development programs concurrently
• Collaborate with engineers across mechanical, electrical, software, and systems disciplines

Key Qualifications

• Experience developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
• Experience developing test strategies and plans for complex hardware/software systems or systems of systems
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute tests within a high-ambiguity environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent field
• Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept through production
• Experience managing technical projects including scheduling, scope, and deliverable tracking
• Experience selecting, sourcing, and setting up lab equipment from third-party vendors
