Your Role at impact.com:

You'll join the Shared Services and Infrastructure team at a critical growth moment for impact.com. As we scale toward 600+ product engineers, the platform infrastructure layer - Kubernetes clusters, VPCs, compute, storage, shared services -is becoming mission-critical. This is a solid starting point for someone who wants to grow into platform and infrastructure engineering. You'll work closely with senior engineers on the team, implementing infrastructure abstractions, deploying platform services, and learning how production systems work at scale. You'll write production-quality Java code, operate real infrastructure, and contribute to making sure 600+ developers have a reliable foundation to build on. If you want hands-on experience with Kubernetes, cloud architecture and building reliable systems, this is the role.

What You'll Do:

  • Implement platform infrastructure abstractions that service teams use to express their requirements: translating high-level requests into IaC parameters and production-grade deployments.
  • Deploy and operate platform-layer infrastructure: VPCs, compute pools, storage, Kubernetes clusters and the networking that connects them, using IaC modules provided by Cloud Operations.
  • Help operate and maintain managed pub/sub messaging systems (e.g. Kafka) that service teams depend on.
  • Consume Cloud Operations' IaC modules and feed back operational lessons and enhancement requests.
  • Write production-quality Java code that implements infrastructure abstractions, baking in security and best practices by default.
  • Work alongside senior engineers to design and implement infrastructure solutions, learning best practices in cloud architecture, Kubernetes and operational discipline.

What You Bring:

  • Solid software-engineering fundamentals with Java or similar programming experience.
  • Familiarity with basic network and cloud computing concepts.
  • Comfort with Linux command line and a willingness to learn systems administration basics.
  • A genuine interest in how systems work at scale, infrastructure reliability and the details of running production services.
  • A collaborative mindset: you're comfortable learning from more senior engineers and asking questions when you need to.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Hands-on experience with GCP (primary), AWS or Azure (preferred)
  • Exposure to Kubernetes, containerisation, or orchestration concepts (preferred)
  • Familiarity with IaC tools like Terraform (preferred)
  • Experience working in a collaborative engineering environment or internship experience (preferred)
