Position Summary

The Artificial Intelligence Software Engineer will play a pivotal role in company initiatives to solve scientific and administrative challenges using the latest AI tools. This role will support Senior AI engineers to develop and deliver the AI infrastructure to support ImmunityBio research science projects and enhance business processes.  

Essential Functions

• Setup and administer the AI/LLM infrastructure within a private cloud to support AI systems across the organization. 
• Manage AI systems security and integrate new systems and tools into company-wide cyber security systems and controls.
• Implement the latest advancements in AI and machine learning frameworks.
• Develop AI systems building algorithms and machine learning models to solve specific challenges and enhance functionality.
• Maintain pipelines for deploying AI models into production environments.
• Implement AI into existing software systems to enhance functionality and user experience.
• Collaborate with data scientists, senior software engineers, and stakeholders to ensure AI solutions align with organizational goals and deliver real-world value.
• Optimize the performance of AI models and systems for scalability and real-time applications.
• Troubleshoot AI applications to resolve issues and optimize systems for better performance and user experience.
• Performs other special projects as requested.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, or a related field required; a Master’s Degree is preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in AI infrastructure development, application engineering, and machine learning techniques is required.
• 2+ years of experience working with Python is required.
• 2+ years of experience working with Java and C++ is Preferred.
• 2+ years of experience with Web development (React, Typescript, SQL) is required.
• Experience working with Large Language Models is preferred.
• Experience with AI development frameworks (Langchain, LlamaIndex, etc.) is preferred.
• Experience with AI agentic frameworks (LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, etc.) is preferred.
• Experience with FastAPI is preferred.
• Relevant certifications in AI and machine learning are a strong plus.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Proficiency in GPU Cluster setup and administration, Machine Learning (ML) development and application engineering.
• Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities to work effectively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Working Environment / Physical Environment

• This position will either work in El Segundo, CA or remotely based on the candidate’s location
• Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.
• Lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds
• This position requires extensive use of computer keyboards and monitors. 

This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity award. The annual base pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications, prior experience as well as geographic location.

$115,000 (entry-level qualifications) to $160,000 (highly experienced) annually
