About Immunai:

Immunai is an engineering-first platform company aiming to improve therapeutic decision-making throughout the drug discovery and development process. We are mapping the immune system at unprecedented scale and granularity and applying machine learning to this massive clinico-immune database, in order to generate novel insights into disease pathology for our partners - pharma companies and research institutes. We provide a comprehensive, end-to-end solution - from data generation and curation to therapeutics development, that continuously supports and validates the capabilities of our platform.

As drug development is becoming increasingly inefficient, our ultimate goal is to help bring breakthrough medicines to patients as quickly and successfully as possible.

Immunai is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

About the role:

As a Senior Director of Preclinical and Discovery Applications, you will lead a team of scientists in utilizing experimental immunology to enhance Immunai’s Technology Platform and address critical preclinical and translational drug development challenges.

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid position, must be based in New York City)

What will you do?

  • Direct management of experienced team leads and multiple research teams responsible for developing and applying diverse preclinical model systems (in vitro, ex vivo, in vivo) and immunological assays to evaluate drug targets and characterize preclinical and clinical-stage drug candidates.
  • Partner closely with multiple teams, including the Molecular Profiling lab, Computational R&D and Product Management to define and co-develop Platform applications that support external collaborations and internal preclinical and translational research initiatives.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of multiple parallel cross-functional initiatives, including reporting to senior leadership.
  • Support the External Collaborations team in executing on collaborative projects with biotechs and large pharma that involve experimental evaluation of therapeutic candidate molecules.
  • Interface directly with Immunai leadership to effectively represent the work of experimental teams and support strategic planning and decision making.
  • A PhD in immunology and >10 years of postdoctoral experience including >5 in an industry setting supporting immunology/immuno-oncology drug discovery and development.
  • Extensive management experience, including growing and directly managing teams of >5 individuals, including PhD-level reports in a heavily matrixed environment.
  • First hand experience supporting drug discovery and development in a biotech/pharma setting and familiarity with FDA regulatory requirements for IND submissions.
  • Experience working with multiple immune targeting biological modalities (antibodies, bispecific engagers, immunoconjugates, cell therapies etc.).
  • Experience developing and applying appropriate preclinical model systems to evaluate preclinical drug candidates.
  • Experience developing and applying high content lab assays to evaluate human immune responses (e.g., flow cytometry, cytokine profiling); experience with single cell transcriptomics and multi-omics approaches is particularly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with diverse stakeholders and teams, particularly computational teams.

Desired personal traits:

  • You want to make an impact on humankind
  • You prioritize “We” over “I”
  • You enjoy getting things done and striving for excellence
  • You collaborate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • You constantly challenge your own assumptions, pushing for continuous improvement
  • You have a growth mindset
  • You make decisions that favor the company, not yourself or your team
  • You are candid, authentic, and transparent

Compensation: This position offers a salary typically between $200,000 and $275,000. There is an opportunity to consider higher compensation above this range based on business need, candidate experience, and or skills.
