The Big Picture
The Engineer - Automation will play a vital role in developing and implementing advanced automation solutions to streamline CAD processes. The position involves developing CAD tools, plugins, and automation frameworks to streamline design and drafting workflows within an R&D environment. Your analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail will contribute to the efficiency, accuracy, and overall productivity of our engineering team.
 
What you can expect as an Engineer - Automation at Illumine-i:
  • You’ll develop standalone and integrated desktop applications, macros, and plugins for CAD customization using C#
  • You’ll design and implement automation tools that automatically generate layouts and drawings to improve design efficiency
  • You’ll implement design automation solutions for R&D teams within the CAD customization domain
  • You’ll develop, test, deploy, and maintain CAD automation tools for the Engineering Department
  • You’ll customize CAD APIs, toolbars, and user interfaces to enhance usability and productivity
  • You’ll work with APIs and databases to support data-driven CAD automation
  • You’ll create and maintain technical documentation, including: Application architecture, Integration protocols, Detailed point lists and Revision and version control documentation
  • You’ll develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), flowcharts, and knowledge-transfer (KT) materials for end users
 
Essential Qualifications include: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • 1–5 years of experience in CAD design automation or plugin development
  • Strong experience developing CAD plugins and automation tools using C#
  • Proficiency in working with APIs and database queries
  • Hands-on understanding of AutoCAD / BricsCAD API libraries
  • Solid problem-solving skills with a focus on automation and efficiency improvement
 
Great to have:
  • Ability to plan and execute tasks independently within defined project scopes
  • Experience developing plugins for Revit and/or Civil 3D
  • Experience with version control systems (Git/SVN)
  • Understanding of CAD standards and drafting conventions
  • Ability to debug, optimize, and maintain CAD plugins.
  • Ability to architect CAD automation solutions
  • Experience working in an R&D or engineering product environment
  • Exposure to web development technologies such as Django, React, and PostgreSQL
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
