Director of Engineering 

We’re searching for a Director of Engineering based at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa that sees the big picture to keep their team one step ahead of maintenance challenges and an entrepreneur that looks at what’s next while motivating them to take pride in delivering safe, detailed and compliant stays 24/7/365 days for our guests and colleagues. You’ll direct the engineering/maintenance of the resort and ensure the safety and comfort of hotel guests and team members – making sure all activities are delivered safely and with compliance. Along with supporting hotels on special projects and upcoming renovations across our FNPF-owned IHG Hotels in Fiji. Motivating and training your team with the skills to keep our hotels always looking their best is essential.

A little taste of your day-to-day

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

• Directing daily engineering needs to ensure the right team is always on the right task

• Developing a maintenance programme that creates a safe, secure and comfortable environment for our guests to enjoy

• Oversee the physical operations of the hotel, including maintenance and repair, and order parts and supplies in a timely and efficient manner while minimising waste and maintaining “green” initiatives 

• Develop your team and improve their performance through coaching and feedback, and create performance and development goals for colleagues - recognise good performance

• Being flexible to react to ad-hoc duties where we have to unexpectedly pull together to get a task completed

• Supervising a number of maintenance and engineering staff as well as tradespeople and contractors in a large, luxury, resort setting

• Help guests need to ensure their satisfaction 

What we need from you

• A degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable tertiary institute

• At least eight+ years’ experience in general building maintenance and/or construction or equivalent combination of education and experience – international experience in a luxury resort setting is preferred.

• Specialised expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields

• Level 3 EPA Certification, HVAC and refrigeration certificate, licensed plumber and/or journeyman status for electrician and carpenter may be required 

• Flexibility – due to the nature of our operations, you will be required to work shifts, weekend and public holidays.
