We are looking for a Solution Architect to join our Claims & Frontline Architecture organization and play a key role in guiding the evolution of Local Core Norway systems.

In this role, you will work closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, and fellow architects to create sustainable solutions that support both today's delivery needs and our long-term technology strategy.

About the role

As a Solution Architect, you will provide architectural guidance across Local Core Norway systems and help ensure that business requirements are translated into scalable, maintainable, and fit-for-purpose solutions.

You will work across both mainframe-based and modern technology environments, supporting teams in making sound architectural decisions while balancing business value, delivery feasibility and long-term direction. 

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Building and maintaining a strong understanding of the Local Core Norway application landscape

• Translating business needs into solution architecture and high-level design

• Guiding agile product teams in architectural decision-making

• Ensuring alignment with If's enterprise architecture principles

• Helping determine where functionality should reside across the application landscape

• Reviewing, challenging and improving proposed solution designs

• Supporting modernization initiatives and reduction of technical debt

• Facilitating collaboration between business, engineering, and architecture communities

You will join IT Claims & Frontline Architecture, part of If's architecture organization. We work closely with business, product and engineering teams across the Nordics.

Our team combines deep architecture expertise with strong business understanding and an enterprise-wide perspective. We value collaboration, knowledge sharing and finding pragmatic solutions that create long-term business and customer value.

Who are you?

You are an experienced solution architect who enjoys navigating complex legacy core application landscapes and translating business needs into practical and sustainable solutions.

You build trust and guide decisions among business and technical stakeholders without relying on formal authority. You can explain complex architecture topics in a way that different audiences understand and can act on. When priorities compete, you make pragmatic judgments that support delivery without losing sight of the long-term direction.

You approach complex topics in a structured way, are curious about business processes and technologies, and respectfully challenge assumptions when another approach could create a better outcome.

You also have:

• Strong knowledge of mainframe environments and development, including technologies such as IBM Z, COBOL, CICS, IMS, DB2 and VSAM. Experience with Microsoft Azure is an advantage.
• Proven ability to design solution architectures in complex enterprise environments

• The ability to translate business needs into sustainable and practical solution designs
• A strong understanding of distributed systems, integrations, APIs and event-driven architecture
• Experience guiding agile product teams and making architecture decisions in iterative delivery environments
• Professional working proficiency in English. Fluency in Norwegian is considered a strong advantage.
