Software Development Engineer - IV - Marketplaces Channels

Role Overview

ID.me is looking for a Software Development Engineer IV to add to our rapidly growing Marketplaces Channels team. This person will be responsible for driving features/enhancements on our current browser extension and mobile apps with the ultimate goal of  building a unified cross-browser/OS experience that drives user-engagement.

Marketplaces is one of the fastest growing domains at ID.me, with this new team being built from the ground up to add to our talented engineering organization. This role will be part of the Marketplaces Channels team within the Marketplace org . This role provides an opportunity to build systems and features at scale that drive the future experience for the 100 million+ members already part of ID.me by adding to our existing portfolio of benefits and services provided in ID.me Shop, ID.me Government, ID.me Rx and other channels such ID.me browser extension and ID.me shop app. Collaboration, creativity, and solid engineering judgment are critical to this role as the team makes architecture and design decisions - building on top of legacy applications or spinning up greenfield projects where appropriate.

As an engineer, this role will be responsible for driving features from conception and development through delivery and monitoring to ensure stability and success. This is achieved through close collaboration with product, other engineers, and qa - independence and ownership doesn’t always mean working by yourself. This engineer will feel comfortable switching gears between improving legacy code, building new features, contributing to code reviews, and pairing with other engineers to help unblock their teammates when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain highly scalable and secure web applications, services, and APIs
• Consistently ship small and medium features and improvements with minimal guidance and support from other team members. Collaborate with the team on larger projects.
• Collaborate with team members, product managers, and stakeholders to solve the right problems and build the best solutions for customer needs
• Effectively switch gears between maintaining and refactoring old code and writing newer and more modern services
• Use test driven development practices and/or test frameworks and tools to ensure that features are shipped defect free
• Demonstrate mastery of object-oriented programming languages, tools and technologies
• Solve complex technical problems with varying degrees of ambiguity
• Act as a mentor to junior developers through code reviews and document critiques, and actively participate in cross team knowledge sharing forums

Qualifications 

• 6+ years developing highly scalable, performant web applications using Javascript, Typescript
• 6+ years developing web applications using languages like Java, Ruby or Python
• Solid understanding of web technologies, HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, object oriented design, REST based APIs, and Git
• Experience in Chrome Manifest version 3
• Familiarity integrating with Web APIs, Browser Extension APIs on Chrome and Safari
• Familiarity with Xcode, Safari Share extensions, view controllers
• Understanding of querying techniques and optimizations on relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL or MSSQL Server, or similar
• Proven track record of owning and shipping features end to end including thorough automated test coverage, observability, monitoring, and documentation
• Experience deploying features using A|B testing strategies and ability to interpret results
• Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and be a team player with a self-managing work ethic
• BS in a quantitative or scientific field such as computer science, computer engineering or equivalent experience

• Experience working with Ruby on Rails

• Must be located in the continental U.S. and work core EST or CST hours
• Must have an obsession for building quality products
