Mid-Snr Level Generalist Artist

Location: London, United Kingdom

Department: Art

Iconic Interactive is an AI-native game development and research studio exploring the future of interactive entertainment, digital actors, and intelligent worlds. We are looking for a versatile Mid-Level Generalist Artist to join our growing creative team.

This role is ideal for an artist who enjoys working across multiple disciplines, from modelling and texturing through to look development, world-building, realtime implementation, and experimental AI-assisted workflows.

You should be comfortable operating in a fast-moving prototyping environment and collaborating closely with designers, engineers, technical artists, and AI researchers.

Although we are an AI-native studio, we strongly value human creativity, artistic authorship, and craft. Our work combines advanced AI systems with carefully authored art direction, storytelling, design, and world-building created by real artists and developers. Projects such as The Oversight Bureau reflect our belief that strong artistic vision and human creativity remain central to the future of interactive entertainment.

We are particularly interested in enthusiastic, proactive, positive individuals who are capable of self-starting, organising their own work, and contributing constructively within a collaborative team environment. We value people with a strong can-do attitude who are comfortable taking ownership and helping drive ideas forward.

Responsibilities:

  • Create high-quality 3D assets, environments, props, and supporting content for games and prototypes.
  • Model, texture, UV, and optimise assets for realtime applications.
  • Work within stylised and/or realistic art directions depending on project needs.
  • Support rapid prototyping and iterative development workflows.
  • Integrate and test assets within Unity and/or Unreal Engine.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure assets function effectively in-engine.
  • Contribute creatively to visual development, mood, tone, and world-building.
  • Help maintain clean, organised project files and asset structures.
  • Explore and evaluate emerging AI-assisted creative workflows where appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Strong working knowledge of Blender and/or Maya.
  • Strong foundational art skills, with a good eye for shape, silhouette, proportion, colour, composition, lighting, and visual storytelling.
  • Working knowledge of Unity and/or Unreal Engine, including importing, setting up, and testing assets in-engine.
  • Comfortable creating characters, creatures and organic models.
  • Good understanding of realtime game art pipelines and optimisation constraints.
  • Experience with modelling, UVs, texturing, materials, and asset preparation for games.
  • Familiarity with PBR workflows and modern realtime rendering techniques.
  • Ability to work across a broad range of artistic tasks as a generalist.
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and iterating quickly in a collaborative environment.
  • Passion for games, interactive media, AI, and emerging technology.

Nice to Have:

  • Technical art experience (shaders, rigging, procedural tools, scripting, etc.).
  • Experience integrating assets into gameplay or interactive systems.
  • Knowledge of animation pipelines, facial rigs, or character workflows.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted creative workflows and generative tools.
  • Experience working in startup, indie, or R&D environments.

What We Value:

  • Curiosity and experimentation.
  • Strong artistic taste and judgement.
  • Initiative and ownership.
  • Clear communication and collaboration.
  • Comfort operating across disciplines.
  • Interest in the future of AI-native interactive experiences.

Please include a portfolio/showreel demonstrating relevant work across modelling, environments, texturing, or realtime content creation.
