Description
The Global Operational Support Systems (OSS) Platform Development organization is focused on the delivery and operation of shared cloud operational services and IT Service Management (ITSM) integration for use by IBM Cloud and non-Cloud service teams. The OSS Platform Development team is composed of highly skilled software developers who have passion for delivering value to IBM through increased operational efficiencies.  OSS shared services are an integrated framework which span the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service operations practices of event and incident management, advanced operations such as event correlation and self-healing automation, Slackbot automation, SLA/SLO dashboarding and monitoring, as well as external notification publication.  Beyond the integrated framework we are investigating the use of AI as an emerging tool to drive efficacies and speed of ITSM operations and are looking to make a difference, by improving the capabilities of IBM Cloud to respond to external and internal events.

The role is that of a Software Developer. The candidate needs to be proficient in software development with an emphasis on microservices using cloud languages and scripting.  The preference for OSS being Go and Python, Node.js and Bash are acceptable.  The candidate must be familiar with API design (REST) and implementation.  The applicant should have experience with build / open-source tooling (Github, Jenkins, etc.), testing methodologies/practices and automation, and working experience in an Agile and continuous delivery environment.  The candidate should have some familiarity with machine learning processes, developing and deploying AI algorithms, evaluating the effectiveness of AI The candidate should be familiar with secure application development practices.  It is recommended that the candidate be familiar in UI/UX development and knowledge of React, Angular, or CSS, is a plus.  The candidate will be expected to be able to perform problem determination, isolation, and mitigation, in complex systems.

  • Develop and operate a set of cloud services (UI and backend, microservices and APIs)
  • Ensure code is automatically built and deployed to staging and production environments.
  • Develop and train artificial intelligence tools to help automate ITSM processes
  • Available, as part of a rotation, duty days
  • Ensure OSS services operate in line with Security and Compliance requirements

This role will work with the larger OSS globally located development teams as well as stakeholders from the Public Cloud Architecture Guild, many Service SRE teams, the Client Success Availability Managers, and Cloud Executive stakeholders.
