Job description
Hyphen is hiring a UX Designer — a full-time, based in Lisbon, Portugal | Porto, Portugal role. Apply directly on Hyphen's careers page below.
We’re looking for a UX Designer to join our consulting team and work on end-to-end UX projects for clients across a range of industries. You’ll take projects from problem definition through to delivery, working closely with research, product and development teams, as well as directly with client stakeholders.
AI is already part of how we work. We’re looking for someone who is curious about new tools and comfortable exploring how AI can make design and research workflows faster, smarter and more effective.
What you’ll do
Lead UX design work from problem definition to final delivery, rapidly exploring ideas through prototypes - including AI-assisted prototyping - and evolving the strongest solutions to high fidelity.
Support user research, including user interviews and usability testing.
Turn research findings and user insights into clear, evidence-based design decisions.
Create, use and evolve Design Systems, ensuring consistency and scalability across products and experiences.
Apply accessibility best practices and WCAG 2.2 guidelines throughout the design process.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across research, product and development.
Work directly with client stakeholders, communicating progress, gathering feedback and aligning on decisions.
Present your work and articulate the rationale behind design decisions to clients and internal teams.
Explore and integrate AI tools into design and research workflows, from research synthesis and ideation to prototyping and content generation.
What we’re looking for
3–5 years of experience in UX Design, Product Design or a similar role.
A portfolio that demonstrates how you think and work, not just polished final screens.
Strong Figma skills, including components, variants, auto layout and prototyping.
Hands-on experience working with Design Systems.
A good understanding of digital accessibility and WCAG 2.2.
Some practical experience conducting or supporting user interviews and usability testing.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to discuss your work and respond constructively to client feedback.
Professional fluency in Portuguese and English.
Nice to have
Experience working in a consultancy or agency environment, particularly across multiple projects or clients at the same time.
Experience using AI as part of your day-to-day design practice, such as research synthesis, prototyping, ideation, content generation or workflow automation.
