Description

The power of prediction starts with HumanSignal. We build software that helps people do what only they can do – give meaning

Data fills our modern world. It flows prolifically inside organizations, customer interactions, through product usage, environmental research, healthcare imaging, and beyond. What if we could use any of that historical data to predict the future? The fact is, in most cases we can make predictions through Machine Learning and AI, but to do so in a meaningful and impactful way, historical data needs to be accurate, comprehensive, and absent of bias.

In order to make the best predictions, we believe internal teams with domain expertise should be responsible for annotating and curating data. It's called data labeling, and it’s a process of real people giving meaning to the information they see on the screen. HumanSignal was founded to take data labeling to the next level.

We believe that data labeling is a team sport. Data scientists, subject matter experts, engineers, operations, and annotators must work collaboratively to ensure quality results and an efficient process. That’s why we created Label Studio, which has quickly become the most popular open source data labeling platform with a 250K+ users around the world and millions of labeled samples, alongside a community of thousands of data scientists sharing knowledge and working to advance data-centric AI.

In late spring 2022, HumanSignal raised $25 million in Series A funding, bringing our total funds raised to $30 million from notable investment partners Redpoint Ventures, Unusual Ventures, Bow Capital, Swift Ventures, as well as angel investors.

HumanSignal is a fully distributed organization with people all over the world. We have team members in North America, Europe, and South America across 6 countries.

About the Opportunity:

HumanSignal is seeking a talented Full Stack Engineer who thrives on building end-to-end solutions that empower our platform’s user experience while ensuring scalability and reliability on the backend. As a Full Stack Engineer, you will work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to develop robust, intuitive, and performant web applications. You will have the opportunity to influence the entire technology stack, from database architecture to user interfaces, playing a crucial role in delivering value to our rapidly growing user base. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy the challenges of working across the entire stack and are passionate about creating impactful software that democratizes data labeling through AI and automation.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain both backend services and frontend components of our data labeling platform, ensuring high performance, scalability, and excellent user experience.
  • Design and build RESTful APIs and other backend services to support new and existing features, ensuring seamless integration with the frontend.
  • Create and maintain responsive and accessible user interfaces using modern JavaScript frameworks, focusing on delivering intuitive and user-friendly experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to translate requirements and mockups into complete solutions that align with our business goals.
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and contribute throughout the entire development process, from ideation to production deployment.
  • Identify and implement areas of improvement across both frontend and backend codebases, driving changes that enhance the overall quality and maintainability of our platform.
  • Establish and uphold best practices, coding standards, and development guidelines for both frontend and backend systems.
  • Mentor all engineers across the stack, providing guidance on best practices, code quality, scalable and performant system design and professional growth.

What You'll Bring:

  • Extensive experience developing full stack applications, with proficiency in both backend (Python, Java, Go, Kotlin, Scala, Rust) and frontend (React, Angular, Vue.js) technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (ES6+), with a focus on cross-browser compatibility, accessibility principles, and delivering high-quality, maintainable code.
  • Proven experience building and integrating scalable backend services and APIs, with expertise in frameworks like FastAPI, Django, or similar.
  • Familiarity with database systems (Postgres, BigQuery) and experience working with streaming event and messaging architectures (Kafka, Spark).
  • Comfort working across the entire stack, including state management libraries (Redux, Vuex), frontend build tools (Webpack, Vite), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
  • High user empathy, a keen eye for design, and a drive to build intuitive interfaces that solve real user problems.
  • A passion for impactful communication and collaboration, leveraging tools like TDDs, code reviews, and constructive feedback to drive team success.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to work independently and manage complex projects from inception to completion.
  • BSCS, related degree, or equivalent practical experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We prioritize job seekers as our customers, unlike bigger job sites, by charging a small fee to provide them with curated access to the best companies and up-to-date jobs. This focus allows us to deliver a more personalized and effective job search experience.
  • Salaries for the engineering jobs on our site range from $100K-$200K. On average, senior engineer positions on our EchoJobs are about $160K.
  • The EchoJobs positions have been sourced and vetted from the top companies to work for in the US as a software engineer, including LinkedIn and other reputable job sites. We also have syndicated jobs from companies that have just raised funding, as well as those that have great unique products and culture. From all of these sources, our founder, Morgan, has also resourced the company's authenticity in terms of their website, public appearance, and more.
  • Yes, our users asked us for just this, so now our search filters allow you to search for your top jobs via location, as well as by onsite, remote, or both. Approximately 30% of our jobs are remote, so you’ve got the best options for you!
  • We have not yet implemented this option, but are considering doing so in the future. For the moment, you would need to cancel your subscription, and resubscribe when you wanted to come back.
  • We add new jobs to EchoJobs every day! We scan our sources for the newest jobs, verify them, and post them to EchoJobs within minutes. We add about 2,000-3,000 new jobs for you each day!
  • From starting your job search to getting hired, the entire job search process can take us software engineers anywhere between 3-6 months. However, at EchoJobs, we’re striving to shorten this duration by finding the best, newest jobs for you, so you can do less job searching, and more applying.
  • We’d recommend checking EchoJobs daily, as we add new jobs to the site each day. Additionally, if you got a chance to read our previous email on “what makes EchoJobs different from any other job search tools,” we also recommended that you set a job alert based on your job filters, so if you get emails on those new jobs, you could be checking more than once per day.
  • If you decide to continue with us after the 1-month trial, we definitely recommend this, as we all know it usually takes 3-6 months to find a quality job as a software engineer these days. So to best support you, we just adjusted our membership options at EchoJobs to monthly, 3 months, or 12 months (this option is more for passive job seekers looking a little bit for the future if they want to come back to work or make a job switch potentially. This lets you see what’s out there in case an even better fit job becomes available.)
  • EchoJobs is truly the only job site of its kind. We want to be THE spot for you to find the best job for you, and haven’t encountered any other company doing this. Other job sites are in niches besides software engineering or focus on a small portion of engineering jobs (like a specific coding language). In the words of Morgan, our founder, “I think what makes EchoJobs different is the amount of jobs, frequency that we add new jobs (we add 2,000-3,000 new jobs daily!), and the powerful search engines to find exactly the job you want more easily and efficiently. We can provide you with the most jobs that are vetted by us, we’ll continually find more new jobs for you, and we make it easier for you to apply and get hired.
