Join us as an

Senior Engineer in Medium Voltage Power Conversion Systems (m/f/d)

to contribute to the development of our Huawei Power Conversion Technology Laboratory, which plays an important role in designs and develops power converters and control systems for applications such as Photo Voltaic (PV), Data Center and Critical Power (DCCP), Electric Vehicle (EV), Board Mounted Power Supply (BMP) power ranges from several Watts to Mega Watts, and the most challenging things are high efficiency high density, cost effective and low static power consumption.

Your mission

· Next-Generation Medium-Voltage Architectures: Research next-generation medium-voltage architectures for applications such as AI data centers, high-power photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage systems, and electric vehicle charging. The scope includes technology trend analysis, industry evolution insight, and forward-looking technology planning.

· Medium-Voltage Power Converter R&D: Drive the development and deployment of advanced medium-voltage power conversion technologies, with a focus on solid-state transformers (SST) for AI data centers and EV charging, as well as medium-voltage direct integration solutions for photovoltaic and energy storage systems. Research areas include MV converter topologies and modulation algorithms, control algorithms for MV power conversion systems, medium-frequency transformer (MFT) design, and coupled design and simulation across electric field & magnetic field & thermal management & reliability.

· Technical Collaboration: Work closely with external R&D institutes and universities to jointly develop novel converter technologies for medium-voltage power electronics applications relevant to Huawei Digital Power.

· Technical Innovation: Generate innovative technical concepts and protect them through intellectual property filings.

Your areas of expertise:

· You hold a PhD or Master's degree in the field of power electronics, electrical and electronic engineering or in a similar engineering discipline.

· You shall possess several years of proven experience in Medium Voltage, high power electronics and system experience in product design or prototype development in an industrial context.

· You have a deep expertise in MV power electronic converter topologies and modulation, control algorithms for MV converter systems, MFT design, and coupled design and simulation covering electric field, magnetic field, thermal management, and reliability

· You have a good working knowledge of MV standards and practical insulation coordination experience is desirable

· You have a proven experience with new technology development initiatives and technical innovation.

· Familiarity with medium-voltage related standards and practical experience in insulation coordination is a strong advantage.

· High level of self-reliance and an autonomous target-oriented work style, “can do” attitude, eager to learn new things and ready to think outside the box

· You may have occasional travel related to ongoing projects, seminars, conferences etc.

· You are fluent in written and spoken English.
