Senior Engineer, Audio Machine Learning

Huawei Heisenberg Research Center (Munich) is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of our products.

Audiovisual Technology Lab in Huawei Munich Research Center is developing innovative technologies in the field of acquisition, encoding and decoding, processing and presentation for the media field, including audio, video, image and graphics. You will contribute to these activities being inserted into an international and experienced team of researchers.

Senior Engineer (18-Month Leased Labor) - Audio Machine Learning (m/f/d)

Your mission

• Develop and optimize innovative audio machine learning technologies, such as acoustic scene classification or multimodal scene classification.

• Design, train, and validate the light-weighted models using relevant audio datasets, ensuring suitability for embedded hardware.

• Perform literature analysis and technical insight to identify promising technologies for audio classification and other AI-based audio technologies.

Your areas of expertise

• Master’s degree or Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, or a related field.

• Strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience in deep learning. Familiarity with audio signal processing is a plus.

• Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.

• Familiarity with model compression techniques (e.g., pruning, quantization, knowledge distillation) is a significant advantage.

• Programming proficiency in Python is a must. Experience with programming embedded AI systems (e.g., C/C++) is a plus.

• A research-oriented mindset, with curiosity and a passion for hands-on solving complex, real-world problems.

• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in an international environment.
