AI Spatial Audio Algorithms Engineer

Huawei's Munich Research Center is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of our products.

Audiovisual Technology Lab in Huawei Munich Research Center is developing innovative technologies in the field of acquisition, encoding and decoding, processing and presentation for the media field, including audio, video, image and graphics. You will contribute to these activities being inserted into an international and experienced team of researchers.

Join us as a

Senior Engineer – AI Spatial Audio Algorithms (18-Month Leased Labor) (m/f/d)

Your mission

· Design and train neural network architectures for spatial audio content modification and synthesis (e.g. stereo-to-multichannel upmixing, source separation, channel/format conversion), combining data-driven modeling with domain-specific audio priors

· Reduce model complexity and inference latency to enable real-time, on-device execution on mobile/embedded hardware

· Define perceptually motivated loss functions and evaluation metrics that combine deep learning training objectives with signal-processing-based measures

· Develop signal processing modules / pipelines for rendering spatial audio content

Your areas of expertise

· A Master's or Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, or related fields.

· Strong theoretical and hands-on expertise in digital signal processing

· Solid background in ML / AI, including model development and data processing.

· Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++, or similar.

· Passionate about audio and (psycho-)acoustics.

· Practical experience with audio mixing and mastering workflows is a plus.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently on complex tasks.

· Fluency in written and spoken English.
