Huawei's Kepler Research Center in Jena is responsible for advanced technology research and architectural development of optics-related products.

At the Kepler Research Center – Automotive Optics Team we are now looking for a:

PhD Student in Nano-Optical Devices for Analog Computing (m/f/d)

Your mission 

  • Perform literature analysis and technical insight to identify high potential applications of nano optics in e.g. optical computing, computing imaging and display.

  • Explore high speed dynamical meta-surface for analog optical computing to accelerate AI computing, or conduct breakthrough of meta-lens for computing imaging.

  • Perform samples fabrication of nano optics device, and develop proof of concept according to project requirement to illustrate the feasibility and performance.

  • Attend top-tier academic conferences and exhibitions to identify academic and industry progress, help to identify future trend and directions for nano optics.

Your areas of expertise

  • Master in optics or other related disciplines, with strong theoretical knowledge in diffractive, physical, Fourier, Gaussian, micro-nano optics etc.

  • Practical experience in design and fabricate micro-nano optical device, proficiency with optical design and simulation software like Comsol, FDTD, GSolver etc. Experience in practical application for nano optical device could be a plus.

  • Passionate about innovations and technology in nano optics, and strong willingness to promote nano optics to practical application.

  • Fluent in English (written and oral) and open to cooperation and to work in a team with multiple cultural backgrounds collaboration.
