About the IRC

Huawei Ireland Research Centre's (IRC) mission is to position Huawei as a recognized technology leader and global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider. To achieve this we are building an industry-recognized multi-discipline Research Centre of experts focusing on medium-term to long-term issues. The IRC will work closely with an open innovative ecosystem with Huawei customers to address real-world issues. The IRC will also engage with key European universities to build a basic research capability to support Huawei technical projects.

About the Role

Huawei Ireland Research Centre's (IRC) mission is to position Huawei as a recognized technology leader and a global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) solutions. We are building an industry-recognized, multi-discipline Research Centre of experts to address real-world issues and collaborate with key European universities and Huawei’s customers.

In this role, you will contribute to impactful projects, explore innovative approaches to building recommender systems, and apply cutting-edge technologies to deliver the most relevant items to users.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and implement recommender system algorithms, ensuring they meet the business and user needs

- Conduct literature reviews and stay up to date with the state-of-the-art in recommender system research

- Acquire and prepare datasets for model training and evaluation

- Develop practical and innovative models for real-world applications

- Evaluate models, iterate on them, and enhance their performance

- Produce technical documentation, research papers, or patent applications as needed

- Navigate project ambiguities and effectively communicate with internal teams and stakeholders

- Build demonstration systems to showcase model effectiveness

Requirements

- Proven experience in recommender systems development

- Strong programming skills in Python, R, C, or C++

- Passion for data science, machine learning, and AI technologies

- Research experience, or a PhD, in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics

- Ability to work independently, with good project management skills

- Track record of publications in top-tier conferences or journals
