Description -

The Senior Electrical Engineer is a critical role within the HP Hybrid Solutions (Poly) team.  Working with a global design team, this position drives execution on all aspects of the electrical design of new videoconferencing products over multiple projects with outsourced development partners.  Central to the success of this role is the ability to drive execution at ODM vendors and interface with a multinational team to solve complex technical issues.  This individual should have experience driving aggressive schedules, reviewing complex electrical designs including providing technical guidance, working with vendors to resolve complex electrical problems using data-driven decision-making, and experience in delivering mass-produced electronic hardware.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads multiple project teams of other electrical hardware engineers at outsourced development partners responsible for all stages of electrical hardware design and development for complex products, solutions, and platforms, including design, validation, tooling, and testing.
  • Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on electrical hardware design, development and sustaining.  This will be across multiple global locations, including the design architecture team that is based in the USA.
  • Responsible for sustaining activities and defined/review qualification plan for OEM/ODM project and coordinate with ODM/3rd party lab for testing. Tracking and co-work with product engineer to completed on schedule.
  • Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality.
  • Provides domain-specific expertise and overall electrical/electronic hardware leadership to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
  • Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects in the electrical hardware design organization.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field.
  • Typically 10+ years of experience, including at least 5 years of experience in developing mass-produced electrical hardware in system level.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • High competency with electrical design tools and software packages.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in overall architecture of electronic hardware for products and solutions; experience with conferencing equipment (audio and/or video) is highly preferred.
  • Must be proficient at designing and integrating electronic components, integrated circuitry, and algorithms into an overall architecture to create high-value solutions.
  • Evaluating and proposing forms of empirical analysis, modeling and testing methodologies to validate component, circuit, and hardware designs and thermal/emissions management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in both English and Mandarin languages.
  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels.
