Hardware LabTech Engineer – Job Description 

Job Summary 

The Hardware LabTech Engineer is responsible for supporting the engineering validation lifecycle of factory services solutions through hardware procurement, system assembly, platform validation, compatibility testing, and lab operations management. This role serves as a critical bridge between Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Project Management teams to ensure hardware solutions are validated and ready for production deployment. 

Key Responsibilities 

Hardware Validation & Testing 

• Perform hardware validation activities for Factory Services projects and customer solutions. 

• Validate hardware configurations, components, peripherals, and accessories. 

• Conduct system-level testing to ensure hardware stability and production readiness. 

• Identify, document, and troubleshoot hardware-related issues during validation activities.  

Lab Build & System Integration 

• Assemble and configure systems according to BOM requirements and engineering specifications. 

• Build validation units for engineering investigations, pilot testing, and NPI activities. 

• Support hardware integration services involving HP and third-party components. 

• Verify physical installation and compatibility of integrated solutions. 

• Maintain build accuracy and configuration compliance.  

Hardware Procurement & Asset Management 

• Coordinate hardware procurement activities using approved procurement systems. 

• Manage lab inventory and hardware assets. 

• Work with suppliers and procurement teams to obtain required components. 

• Track engineering samples, validation platforms, and customer-provided equipment. 

• Ensure timely availability of hardware for engineering projects.  

Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis 

• Investigate hardware failures and validation issues. 

• Reproduce customer and factory-reported issues. 

• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement corrective actions. 

• Support escalation management and technical investigations.  

Lab Operations & Maintenance 

• Maintain engineering lab infrastructure and equipment. 

• Ensure compliance with ESD, safety, security, and asset protection requirements. 

• Support automation and continuous improvement initiatives within laboratory operations. 

• Maintain lab documentation and operating procedures.  

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in: 

• Computer Engineering 

• Electronics Engineering 

• Information Technology 

• Related technical field 

• Hands-on experience with: 

• PC hardware assembly and repair 

• BIOS and firmware configuration 

• Hardware troubleshooting 

• Operating system installation and validation 

• System diagnostics 

• Hardware compatibility testing 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

• Ability to work in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment.
