Job Summary:

Lead the design and evolution of LME’s Market Data Systems that consolidate multiple real time and historical market data sources into commercial data products. The role focuses on low latency data capture, processing, and distribution, working closely with real time market data and trading technology teams to ensure high performance, data quality, and monetisation readiness.

Job Duties:

Key Responsibilities

Market Data & Product Enablement

• Design and enhance market data platforms that aggregate, normalise, and package multiple market data feeds as sellable data assets.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to support the commercialisation of derivatives and order book data for external clients.
• Partner with real‑time market data teams to ensure consistency between trading data and distributed market data products.

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Own the technical direction of low‑latency market data ingestion using network traffic data and packet capture (PCAP) technologies.
• Drive system performance optimisation across data capture, processing, and delivery pipelines.
• Ensure robust handling of real‑time data flows, order book construction, and downstream data usage.

Hands‑on Engineering

• Contribute directly to development activities using Java, with exposure to native coding (C/C++) where performance optimisation is required.
• Work with network‑level data (e.g. PCAP, traffic analysis) and derivatives market data structures.
• Support simpler data extraction and transformation tasks alongside more complex real‑time data processing.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Operate in a small, highly specialised team, balancing hands‑on delivery with technical leadership.
• Collaborate closely with trading, market data, and infrastructure teams across regions.
• Ensure adherence to SDLC, documentation standards, and operational best practices.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Degree in Computer Science, IT, or relevant engineering discipline.
• Significant experience in market data systems, trading technology, or other low‑latency platforms.
• Experience working in small, high‑impact engineering teams is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

• Strong Java development experience; exposure to C/C++ or native code optimisation.
• Solid understanding of market data, order book construction, and derivatives data.
• Knowledge of PCAP / packet capture, network traffic analysis, and low‑latency system behaviour.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and real‑time data processing architectures.
