Job Summary:

A senior platform engineer responsible for owning and driving automation strategy and delivery across infrastructure and platform services. You will define standards, build reusable automation frameworks, and lead cross-team initiatives spanning IaC, CI/CD, network/storage/Windows automation, and Kubernetes/OpenShift platform integration.

Job Duties:

Key Responsibilities 

  • Own and drive an automation-first roadmap, defining standards, patterns, and reusable frameworks for IaC and platform automation. 

  • Lead design and implementation of Terraform + Ansible automation (AAP preferred), including tool administration, lifecycle management, and operational best practices. 

  • Establish and govern CI/CD and GitOps practices for infrastructure automation (Bitbucket preferred; GitHub/GitLab acceptable), ensuring quality, security, and repeatability. 

  • Provide technical leadership in network automation (Ansible/Python) and implement automated testing strategies (e.g., PyATS/Molecule) to reduce change risk and improve reliability. 

  • Drive automation across storage platforms and Windows estates (SCCM/PowerShell/Ansible), standardising approaches and reducing manual operations. 

  • Lead Kubernetes/OpenShift enablement and integration: Helm, Operators (design/management for senior roles), ArgoCD, YAML manifests, scaling and operability patterns. 

  • Integrate secrets management and automation (Vault/Keycloak/CyberArk) into platform workflows and CI/CD pipelines. 

  • Drive platform networking integration (ingress/load balancing including Gateway API, DNS, service mesh such as Istio) in partnership with relevant teams. 

  • Define outcome-based metrics (e.g., automation coverage, change failure rate, MTTR), and lead continuous improvement through measurable KPIs. 

Requirements 

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. 

  • 10+ years of experience in Platform Engineering / DevOps / Infrastructure Engineering with a strong automation-first mindset. 

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; able to work effectively with cross-functional teams. 

  • Strong hands-on expertise with Terraform + Ansible (AAP preferred) and ability to build scalable automation frameworks and standards. 

  • Strong scripting/programming skills in Python and/or Golang, including building internal tooling and automation strategies. 

  • Proven experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD systems; familiarity with GitOps approaches (e.g., ArgoCD) is desirable. 

  • Solid Kubernetes/OpenShift knowledge (administration and/or architecture), including Helm/Operators and production troubleshooting. 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead delivery and influence across teams through clear technical direction and stakeholder management. 

Nice-to-have / Advantageous 

  • Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD/CKAS) and/or OpenShift experience across platform services (ACM/ACS, OpenShift Virtualisation). 

  • Cost and capacity optimisation exposure (e.g., Kubecost, Goldilocks). 

  • Secrets and identity tooling integration experience (HashiCorp Vault, Keycloak, CyberArk). 

  • Service mesh and advanced networking experience (e.g., Istio; vendor-based ingress/load balancers; Gateway API). 

  • HashiCorp ecosystem depth and image building tools (e.g., Packer for golden images). 

  • Automated infrastructure testing leadership (PyATS, Molecule) and quality gates for IaC.
