JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing senior architectural leadership, direction, and governance, specifically advising on and driving both provider and payer/provider interoperability initiatives and architectures. The Senior Solutions Architect provides technical and thought leadership that aligns business goals with modern cloud data lakehouse architectures, advanced healthcare data exchange standards, and robust integration frameworks. This role defines the technical roadmap, reference architectures, and governance for complex, enterprise-scale data and interoperability solutions.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interoperability & Architectural Leadership: Serve as a trusted advisor and technical authority advising on both provider and payer/provider interoperability initiatives. Design and govern enterprise-scale solutions utilizing modern Data Lakehouse architectures, cloud-native services, and complex data exchange standards.
  • Domain & Standards Expertise: Drive architectural patterns leveraging healthcare data exchange standards—including HL7 v2 (ADT, SIU, ORU), HL7 v3 (CDA, CCD), and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR).
  • Data Lakehouse & Cloud Ecosystems: Architect solutions using GCP Dataproc, Confluent Kafka, Apache Airflow/Composer, Open Database Format/Apache Iceberg, Google Metastore Metadata layers, Google BigQuery (via dbt), Starburst federation, Monte Carlo data quality, and Atlan data catalogs. (Note: Familiarity with legacy/transitionary technologies such as Databricks Medallion architecture, SAS, and Teradata is a plus).
  • Application Integration & Development Standards: Guide development teams on REST API frameworks, Java development standards and classes for interface programming, Python, Spark development, and Advanced SQL.
  • DevOps & Infrastructure Governance: Establish and enforce DevOps principles, GitHub code repositories, YAML cloud configuration management, and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Roadmap Planning: Collaborate closely with product owners, product managers, and senior business/IT leaders to translate complex requirements into a robust architectural runway and roadmap. Present and justify solution designs to executive stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 5 years of experience in technical expertise in both mainframe and/or open systems environments (system software, application software, databases, etc.)
  • 5 years of experience in enterprise environment including experience as a technology lead with technical decision making responsibilities and application development or infrastructure services experience
  • 5 years of experience in IT solutions delivery
  • 5 years of experience in providing consultative solutions architecture and support services of enterprise scope and depth
  • 1 year of experience in using modeling languages
  • 1 year as a Solutions Architect

Preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in the healthcare industry, specifically focusing on healthcare data exchange, interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7), and clinical/payer data flows.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting and implementing modern cloud Data Lakehouse solutions (GCP, BigQuery, Iceberg, Kafka).
  • Strong background in API development frameworks, Java/Python integration, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, GitHub CI/CD).
