Model Based System Engineer

Full time

This position is hybrid located in San Diego, CA and typically requires, on-site work of 3 days per week (Tues/Wed/Thur).  

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain system architecture models using SysML and MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect)
• Facilitate the development of Black Box and White Box models in accordance with DoD and NAVWAR standards
• Work closely with program engineering teams to develop questionnaires to identify what data is available for each program that can feed into a model, then help match programs with the appropriate MBSE automation tool(s) and enter data into the appropriate MBSE tool.
• Integrate MBSE approaches with traditional systems engineering practices and digital engineering frameworks
• Translate stakeholder requirements into system models and technical specifications
• Participate in or lead technical reviews, model-based design efforts, and system verification/validation planning
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and integration teams to align models with implementation and testing
• Support DoD acquisition documentation and milestone reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR)
• Ensure models comply with DoD standards (e.g., DoDAF, UAF, MIL-STD-881, NIST 800-160 Vol 1/2)
• Prepare technical documentation and present modeling results to stakeholders, including government clients
• Maintain configuration control of models and support versioning and reuse strategies

 Required Qualifications

• Currently holds an active U.S. national security clearance or be able to receive and maintain one. To learn more about the security clearance process please access this link. 
• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering with at least 2 years in MBSE roles.
• Proficiency in MBSE tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or Enterprise Architect.
• Experience with Black Box and White Box modeling and development.
• Experience with SysML and formal modeling techniques including Black and White Box Models.
• Familiarity with DoD systems lifecycle (DoDI 5000.02, JCIDS, etc.) and C4I engineering processes.
• Experience supporting DoD programs (Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, or OSD).
• Active Secret clearance required.
• Bachelor's in systems engineering, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Clearance Requirements: Some positions will require access to U.S. National Security information.  Positions that require this access will be required to receive and maintain a U.S. government personnel security clearance (PCL).  In order to qualify for this position, the candidate must be a US Citizen and either currently possess this National Security eligibility or be able to complete the investigation application process with a favorable determination and maintain that eligibility throughout their employment. The pay range for this role is: $120,000-159,000USD per year (San Diego, CA)
