Sensor Fusion Software Engineer

Overview

Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division is looking for a Sensor Fusion Software Engineer to join our high-tech engineering and manufacturing company that is committed to customer service excellence and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Manager, Sensor Fusion & Waypoint, you will focus on developing market leading GNSS/INS (SPAN) solutions. In this, you will have opportunities to work with the other engineers in the wider NovAtel organization to implement navigation enhancements, perform data analysis, participate in firmware qualifications, as well as work with our dedicated Applications Engineer team to assist with complex customer integrations and use cases. Your knowledge in programming, software development and your methodical problem-solving approach will support ongoing business initiatives in our exciting High-Tech environment. Responsibilities

As part of the Sensor Fusion team, the Sensor Fusion Engineer is responsible for:

  • Development and enhancement of GNSS + Inertial navigation technology
    • Embedded FW development (algorithm, filter, mechanization) designing new features and/or improving performance
    • Integrating and evaluating new IMUs
    • Investigating new sensor technologies and positioning techniques
  • Real world testing and analysis of Inertial Solutions & sensor data
    • Collection of real world GNSS/INS data
    • Detailed and methodical analysis of data
    • Development of new tools and utilities
  • Liaising with other departments to analyze and debug customer applications and data
  • Investigation of problems and resolve system defects
  • Defining functional and performance requirements; design, code, and test to meet schedule and quality targets for production releases

Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • B.Sc. in Electrical, Geomatics, or Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years of industry experience.
  • Comfortable writing code in C/C++ and Python
  • Knowledge of software development practices and methodology
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • English fluency with excellent verbal and written skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Understanding of coordinate systems and reference frames
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license

  • Knowledge of GNSS/INS systems and filtering techniques (least squares, Kalman filtering, etc.)
  • Familiarity of geodetic principles
  • Knowledge of embedded systems
  • Experience working with mechatronic systems
