Overview
Hexagon’s Autonomous Solutions division is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role will support and continuously improve our Quality Management System while driving quality assurance and quality control activities across production, engineering, and product release cycles. You will play a key role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction while supporting ongoing operational excellence.

This position is with our HARD-LINE entity. A leading supplier of automation, tele-operation, and remote-control technology specializing in mining. Hard-Line develops its products from the ground up, utilizing years of experience in mining, electronics, electrical design, and mechanical design.
Responsibilities
As a Quality Engineer you will be responsible for these activities:
- Maintain incoming inspection plans, acceptance criteria, and verification methods to ensure purchased materials and components conform to engineering and customer requirements.
- Support supplier quality activities, including nonconformance investigations, supplier corrective actions, and supplier audits in partnership with Supply Chain and Engineering teams.
- Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineering teams to establish quality standards, inspection criteria, product acceptance requirements, and validation methods for new and existing products.
- Lead the development, validation, and continuous improvement of production test procedures, test parameters, and inspection methodologies to ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance with specifications.
- Investigate quality issues using root cause analysis and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) methodologies to drive sustainable corrective actions.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through quality planning, risk assessments, First Article Inspection (FAI), process validation, and production readiness reviews.
- Analyze quality metrics and process performance data to identify trends, improve process capability, reduce defects, and drive continuous improvement throughout manufacturing operations.
- Partner with production teams to implement robust process controls, quality assurance practices, and mistake-proofing (poka-yoke) solutions that improve first-pass yield, reduce scrap and rework, and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Must Have:
- 10+ years of quality engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Diploma in Electronics Engineering (two- or three-year program preferred) or a related technical discipline.
- Strong knowledge of quality systems, quality assurance, and quality control practices within a manufacturing or high-tech environment.
Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally to develop, implement, and continuously improve quality and operational processes, driving sustainable improvements in product quality, manufacturing performance, and operational excellence.
- Experience conducting structured root cause analysis and continuous improvement using methodologies such as 8D, A3, DMAIC, or similar.
Nice To Have:
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 certified quality management system.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and document control systems.
