Software Engineer

The role

As a Software Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining the services that keep our operations running smoothly. You will have the exciting opportunity to develop our next-generation supplier and partner platform, enhancing supplier engagement and ensuring the quality of the HelloFresh products our customers love.

What you’ll do

• Be an essential part of a cross-functional team where your insights and ideas are not just heard but valued and impactful.
• Take ownership of the entire lifecycle of services—from architecture and design to development, deployment, and operations—that compute and publish production process metrics.
• Actively participate in agile teams, working closely with Engineers, Analysts, Product Owners, and Business Intelligence teams to drive our projects forward.
• Harness the power of cutting-edge technologies like Kotlin, Kafka, Kubernetes, Istio, AWS services, and more to build and enhance our platforms.

What you’ll bring

• Proven experience in software development with Kotlin or Java, and a strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
• Proficiency with relational and document databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB), Docker, Kubernetes, and event-driven architectures (RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• Ability to break down technical concepts and explain them effectively to stakeholders, peers, and junior engineers.
• A passion for collaboration, role modeling, and advocating for engineering best practices such as TDD and DDD.
• A creative approach to solving problems with a positive, can-do attitude.
• You thrive in a collaborative environment and embody team spirit.
• A willingness to expand your knowledge in areas like retail, food, recipes, logistics, customer care, and warehousing.
• An obsession with helping people and providing solutions that enhance the customer experience.
• Interacting with front-end developers, designers, product managers and our teams around the world is very much part of our day-to-day, so communication skills are vital. We are looking for strong problem-solvers who can apply their engineering skills to a wide range of platforms and environments, while also acting as an ambassador to coach team members and stakeholders.
