Description

The role

As a Principal Engineer supporting our Supply Chain team, you lead the definition, design, architecture quality and delivery across HelloFresh Supply Chain services and their interfaces to the consumer service world. You will report to the SVP and work with leaders across the teams to define our architectural vision for our world wide operation with dozens of production facilities. The Principal Engineer in this space will develop a deep understanding of HelloFresh Group end-to-end services, business and operations with an emphasis on our Supply Chain capabilities.

What you’ll do

  • Steer the engineering projects in multiple locations and drive cross-functional engineering decisions to deliver end-to-end value to our customers.
  • Driving decision on unifying technology in a diverse ecosystem while considering differences in regional operations that need to be supported (vs. those that can be unified).
  • Ensure that the teams within HelloFresh are aligned to a consistent technical vision and deliver systems that fit together.
  • You lead by example as an exemplary practitioner engineer.
  • Mentor and grow staff and principal engineers.
  • You simplify and demonstrate innovation, creativity, and judgment when solving challenging problems.
  • Align with VP stakeholders on the vision and plan.
  • You influence multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness. You hold peers and teams to a high bar.
  • Find the balance between feature velocity and avoiding accrual of technical debt
  • You will need to understand the businesses they are supporting, and balance conflicting stakeholder objectives, while building trust and demonstrating empathy with the customers’ needs.
  • Promote best practices in software architecture, design, development, delivery, deployment, and operations.

What you’ll bring 

  • Knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Experience designing and building large-scale systems in a multi-tiered, distributed environment.
  • Experience in build vs. buy decisions in the Supply Chain space.
  • 8+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, Golang, Kotlin.
  • 8+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • Experience leading development life cycle process and engineering/operations best practices.
  • Effective communication and ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise form.
