About the role:
- Collaborate with our team of Android engineers, iOS engineers, product, design, and QA to design, develop, test and maintain our codebase with emphasis on writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Coding with Retrofit, Room, Android Architecture Components libraries, Jetpack, Espresso.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Android platform trends, libraries, and best practices to continuously improve development processes.
- Contribute to the overall mobile architecture and design discussions.
- Identify and address bottlenecks, bugs, and performance issues within the application.
- Share your thoughts on product features, the user experience, or literally anything else across the company.
- Opportunities to travel a few times a year to meet with coworkers in various locations in North America.
About you:
- 2+ years of professional experience in native Android app development.
- Strong proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin programming languages.
- Experience with Android Studio, Android SDK, and third-party libraries.
- Solid understanding of Android UI/UX design principles and patterns, and a strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and integration of backend services.
- Knowledge of version control systems, preferably Git.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality, user-friendly applications to the Google Play Store.
- Care about taking a part in the product process from ideation to execution.
What your typical day may look like:
- Say good morning on Slack followed by some friendly conversation.
- Check your Kanban board tasks and dive back into things that you weren’t able to manage the day before, collaborating with our development team to understand project requirements and design specifications.
- Attend team standups (where our team discusses progress, updates, and any potential roadblocks), backlog grooming meetings (where our mobile team, along with QA, product manager and designer review current or created work items that require us to take certain actions), and a demo during a board check-in where we show ongoing progress to our product stakeholders.
- Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to ensure code quality and maintainability.
- Wrap up your work, ensuring that your code is committed to version control and release frequently with continuous builds, testing and direct team feedback.
- You'll continuously learn and grow in a supportive environment that values innovation, teamwork, and personal development.
