Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Core Database Development (Minimum 7+ Years)
- Strong hands‑on experience in Microsoft SQL Server development and programming.
- Expertise in T‑SQL (DDL & DML), stored procedures, functions, triggers, and other database objects.
- Skilled in Performance Tuning, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis.
- Proficient in schema design, normalization, and data modeling concepts.
- Experience with scripting, version control, and code management best practices.
- Ability to refactor legacy SQL code for improved performance and maintainability.
Database Design & Production Support
- Strong experience in database design, data modeling, and ER diagram creation.
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into optimal database structures.
- Proven experience in tuning complex queries and stored procedures.
- Strong understanding of database performance, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
- Experience supporting production environments, including performance analysis and RCA.
- Ability to automate recurring support tasks using SQL or scripts where applicable.
- Knowledge of SQL Server memory utilization, alerting, and error log monitoring.
- Experience refactoring legacy design/code to modern standards.
Advanced Database Engineering
- Experience in modernizing legacy database code and aligning with best practices.
- Strong understanding of project-level architecture, application data flow, and integration patterns.
- Experience in SQL code reviews and enforcing database coding standards.
- Exposure to project-level data auditing, data governance, and compliance‑driven design.
Technical Skills (Must Have)
- Strong expertise in SQL Server 2019 & 2022 onwards, including advanced T‑SQL development and optimization for both OLTP and OLAP systems.
- Hands‑on experience using AI‑assisted coding tools such as:
- GitHub Copilot – for accelerating SQL development, generating optimized T‑SQL patterns, unit tests, and boilerplate code.
- Cursor AI – for refactoring legacy SQL scripts, automated code reviews, and improving code quality and maintainability.
- Claude (Anthropic) – for advanced query explanation, performance tuning suggestions, automated documentation, and schema analysis.
- Extensive experience in performance tuning and query optimization using execution plans, missing index analysis, and SQL Server performance tools.
- Strong proficiency with SQL tracing, debugging, and monitoring tools:
- SQL Profiler
- Extended Events
- DMVs
- PerfMon
- Pssdiag
- Deadlock log
- Retry mechanism.
- Ability to design high‑performance, scalable, and secure database architectures, ensuring high availability, business continuity, failover, and disaster recovery readiness.
- Experience tuning and monitoring OS/Storage/DB layers, including CPU utilization, I/O performance, memory consumption, tempdb optimization, and disk utilization.
- Proficient in using AI tools for:
- Automated analysis of slow-running queries
- Generating optimized indexing strategies
- Documenting stored procedures, schemas, and data flows
- Assisting in code modernization and best-practice enforcement
- Strong knowledge of database schema design, normalization, partitioning, constraints, and referential integrity,Atomic Design.
- Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines for database code, and script automation.
