OVERVIEW:
We're looking for an experienced Platform Engineering Manager with a passion for building scalable, cloud-based platforms to join our high performing team. Do you thrive in empowering small, dynamic teams to develop cutting-edge infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Go Lang?

- Proven Leadership: Lead a talented team of Engineers, providing mentorship, direction, and fostering a collaborative environment where everyone thrives.
- Cloud Expertise: A deep understanding of cloud platforms and architectures, with hands-on experience scaling cloud-based solutions.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Expertise in utilising IaC tools to ensure seamless deployment and management of infrastructure.
- Go Lang Mastery: In-depth experience with Go Lang to build highly performant, scalable systems.
- Scalability Focus: Experience designing and scaling platforms that can handle large, complex workloads efficiently.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Empowering Engineers to achieve a consistently high bar of engineering excellence in their work, through regular facilitation of skill-sharing
- Creating unique opportunities to upskill individual or team knowledge gaps
- Interpreting team objectives to create meaningful, SMART KPIs for direct reports
- Effectively structures their teams to enable them to accomplish their goals
- Maintaining an open, performance-led environment to identify and resolve interpersonal conflicts quickly
- Considering team morale, skill and current workload when involved in ad-hoc decision-making
- Advocating cross-functional collaboration to achieve consistency of approach across the Tech team
- Raising team profile in the wider organisation, recognising both individual and team achievements
- Collaborating with other EMs and Heads-of to form a ‘one-team' fully aligned on general engineering approach and delivery requirements
- Ensuring situations in relation to delivery do not stagnate, taking personal responsibly to restore clarity, capability, and motivation where necessary
- Making significant improvements to internal processes to ensure projects are delivered to deadlines, and therefore budgets
- Proactively managing incidents directly affecting their team or area which could have knock-on implications cross-function
- Comfortably interpreting and driving KPIs set by PM
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Essential Criteria:
- Depending on which area you'd like to go into, experience in Software engineering
- A varied experience in mentoring/coaching and people management
- Has led and supported the activities of an agile delivery team
- Led a team through change management
- Worked closely with Lead Engineers to decipher working projections
- Ability to implement efficiencies in ways of working
- Provide sources for progression framework and development tools for the teams moving forwards
Important to note: This is a hybrid role and would require the successful candidate to attend at least 3 days a week in GSIQ, Solihull, UK.
