Guild is looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join our team for the summer of 2025 from June 2 to August 22.

Guild’s Software Engineers work with a robust team to build software that helps students take advantage of Guild’s affordable education programs and coaching services. You will collaborate with the most hardworking and creative engineers, product managers, and designers to build products that are intuitive, easy to use, and provide a frictionless experience for our users. Moreover, you will use your passion for writing clean, well-tested, and reusable code to build high quality software that will scale efficiently with our continued business growth.
This internship is designed for university or bootcamp graduates (or equivalent experience), with the potential for conversion to a full-time Associate Engineer position based on performance.
This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to work on-site at our Denver office two days per week. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to meet this requirement.
As a Software Engineering Intern, responsibilities include:
- Contribute to the design and development of software solutions, adhering to professional coding standards and best practices.
- Design and build solutions using a variety of technologies including, but not limited to, Python, Node.js, Typescript, React, AWS, PostgreSQL, GraphQL
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, ensuring edge cases and errors are handled gracefully.
- Collaborate with team members during agile ceremonies, such as standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, to align on goals and deliverables.
- Maintain awareness of monitoring and operational data for the team's domain, using this information to suggest and implement performance improvements.
- Build strong relationships within the team, resolving disagreements constructively and contributing to a positive, collaborative environment.
- Create and maintain accurate documentation related to assigned tasks, ensuring knowledge is shared effectively within the team.
- Demonstrate a growth mindset by seeking feedback and proactively addressing areas for improvement in technical and interpersonal skills.
The ideal candidate will have:
Required Proficiencies:
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript), and experience with web development frameworks or libraries.
- Debugging: Basic debugging skills with a focus on diagnosing issues in a single function or service.
- Operational Awareness: Understanding of monitoring principles and operational metrics to inform decision-making and suggest improvements.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a healthy team dynamic.
- Communication: Experience in verbal and written communication, adapting style for technical and non-technical audiences.

This role offers a competitive compensation of $37.00 - $41.00 per hour. Compensation offered will be based on a combination of factors such as experience and competencies.
