Groupon is looking for a Software engineer to work on our next generation marketing platform. The successful candidate will have strong experience developing world-class, service-oriented architecture software in an internet company. As part of the computational marketing team, this role will work on various areas such as, scalable distributed systems, real time data analysis, and big data technologies.

• MySQL/PostgreSQL
• Redis / Memcache
• ELK stack / ElasticSearch
• RESTful API design
• Asynchronous messaging / Pub-Sub frameworks
• Jenkins CICD, Docker, K8S, AWS cloud, Wavefront (metrics)
• GitHub, JIRA, Confluence

You’ll spend time on the following:

• Drive technical design & architecture for products & services owned.

• Design, implement, test, maintain, and own high-performance web services.

• Research various open-source technologies and Big data tenchnologies to solve existing and future problems.

• Rapidly iterate to add new functionality, and solve complex problems with simple, intuitive, and customer-focused solutions while shipping quality applications.

• Translate business, marketing, and functional into detailed technical requirements and architecture and technical design and work plans.

• Apply experience to incrementally develop software development process and infrastructure that enable us to measure and improve the performance output of systems, products, features, and services.

We’re excited about you if you have:

• BE/BTech or ME/MTech degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

• 9+ years of experience in software development.

• Experience in software development and coding in various languages (esp. Java, Python, Scala, etc.)

• Backend experience with RESTful API and RDBMS.

• Experience with relational databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.

• Experience working with Agile methodologies and be comfortable with a fast-paced, always-on, start-up environment.

• 3+ years of experience using big data technologies, databases, and tools HDFS, YARN, Sqoop, Hive, Spark, Airflow, and Storm.

• Responsible for the architecture of your product; ensuring it is aligned to the requirements and the charter.

• Driving the adoption of these best practices around coding, design, quality, and performance in your team.

• Proven experience on any of the Cloud platforms - AWS/Azure/GCP

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Redis, HBase, Cassandra, etc.

• Experience with any of the messaging Queues like RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc.

• Experience with Java frameworks like Spring, Play or DropWizard

• Experience with e-commerce and digital marketing

• Experience with high-scale systems
