Groupon, Inc. is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team in Chicago, IL.

How you'll spend your day:

• You will develop, construct and implement the next generation of company products and features for Groupon's web and mobile applications; 

• design high-performance RESTful service-oriented architectures and software that is fast and efficient for millions of users; 

• build complex algorithms that create personalized experiences for each of our millions of customers while working with the team to design user interactions that are simple, intuitive and implemented correctly; 

• architect code for large scale, high performance, and maximum security; 

• design and implement architecture, providing access to large datasets and transforming power for data across the organization; 

• actively contribute to the adoption of strong software architecture, develop best practices, and new technologies; 

• interface directly with Business Stakeholders, gathering requirements and owning automated end-to-end data engineering solutions.

We’re excited about you if you have the following requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunication Engineering, Information Technologies, or related field plus 6 years of related experience. 

• Any level of experience with designing and implementing ETL pipelines, using technologies and languages such as SQL, Shell, Informatica

• Any level of experience with migrating pipelines from legacy cluster to new cluster

• Any level of experience with designing and developing solutions using big data technologies and languages such as PySpark, Hadoop, EMR, S3, Hive, Python, Kafka, Airflow

• Any level of experience with designing and developing matrix based on clickstream data using in-house tools including Ultron, ZombieRunner, and technologies including Spark-Scala, Big Data, Teradata, MySQL

• Any level of experience with collaborating with business stakeholders to understand business needs and convert them into technical design using technologies such as Lucid Chart, Visual Studio, and Smartsheet
