This is for the Merchant Engineering team, which own the all engineering platform to manage the complete lifecycle of Merchant at Groupon. We pride ourselves in being a Top Engineering Developmental Destination, you’ll enjoy scope, ownership, and impact you will make.

You’ll spend time on the following:

• You will take full ownership of the technical aspects of our global Merchant Platforms & related infrastructure, ensuring that the platform is being used to its fullest potential through designing and building applications around our Merchant's needs.
• You will Design/Develop/Migrate/Maintain a myriad of Merchant backend applications and services for AWS Cloud & Kubernetes environment.
• You will collaborate within the team and outside teams in the organisations to ensure that required business features, high performance and cost-effective solution are implemented effectively.
• Build service artefacts, estimate and plan for deployment, coordinate timeline and tasks with project management and teams.
• Improve service stability and performance by identifying critical service specific metrics, setting meaningful alerting thresholds, and automating alerting responses.
• Drive the discussion and decisions on technical topics related to the team’s scope.
   

We’re excited about you if you have:

• BE/BTech or ME/MTech degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering from a recognised institute
• 6+ years of industry experience in developing and supporting web applications, micro services and troubleshooting internal and external requests / bug reports in distributed environment.
• Strong coding skills in object-oriented programming languages like Java.
• Strong problem solving, debugging skills, data structure and algorithms fundamentals.
• Must have experience with REST API based development of micro services, relational databases (MySQL or Postgres), ORMs
• Exposure to asynchronous messaging platforms like ActiveMQ, Kafka is plus.
• Good communication and collaboration skills and ability to deal with ambiguity.
